First off, no, but then, it is not even remotely related to the o.t. teachings.
However, death (life) insurance fulfills a need so that a man can provide for his family should he die prematurely.
As far as the coffin, you may well have the spirit of life, but your mortal body will still come to an end.

I don't know where in the Old Testament that buying "death" insurance is mentioned. I prefer to call it "life" insurance. If your family has bought you a coffin, just tell them, that you are not going to use it until you are good and ready. Most likely, you will have to buy another one, as you will probably use this one for one of them.

No, I don't think that buying a death insurance is breaking God's law. An insurance is like a retirement fund. You take it out when you retire from business or employment. The only difference here is that you don't get to enjoy your insurance when you die.

Most people buy life insurance to help pay the cost of burying people. I just did my will for me and my wife and we want to be cremated. As for the coffin, I would think that you should have some say so in this decision, don't you? My kids will do their own will and will elect to either be buried or cremated. I will not make that choice for them.

There is no sin in being responsible for others after you check out.
If your family is the one buying the insurance, you might want to start watching those true crime shows and look for similarities.
Have they recently started to be nice to you?
Has your relationship dynamic changed lately?
Are they struggling to get out of debt?
Don't want to be a nay sayer but that's kind of suspicious to me, but I may just be watching to many of those true crime documentaries

Absolutely not. Purchasing life insurance is simply being prepared for the future and that is by no means breaking the law of God.
God himself makes plans. He planned our salvation by sending Jesus to die for our sins. He even designed a special plan for your life so don't worry about it. Its simlpy ensuring that you are aware of what the future holds and are prepared to face it.

No, we mainly live by the new testament anyway since Jesus fulfilled the law by shedding His blood for us.

I don't think that this has anything to do with religious beliefs. It has more to do with the basic relationships between you and your family - doesn't sound too good.

What are your wishes concerning disposal of your body?
I want to be cremated. Everyone knows this and and my sons will honor my wishes.
