Correct.
Actually, someone a few days ago brought up a very good point...
God is like a mobster.
"Hey... hey, that's a real nice soul there. So nice that you wouldn't want anything bad to HAPPEN to it, if you catch my drift."

I was going to agree, but then I remembered that a five year old is still basically innocent. Actually, the God of the Bible behaves more like a teenager -- selfish, vain, arrogant, etc. Could it be that our ancient ancestors, the ones who actually wrote the Bible, thought like any teenager in our own times? Could it be that the human race, on average, is actually maturing? Perhaps there actually is hope for our species to reach its potential. It would help a lot if we could learn to live without the imaginary friend of our childhood.

Sorry you feel that way, but your online nickname does not at all match your opinions. That's because Galileo (believe it or not) was a devout Catholic.
It's no sweat off God's back if you don't believe in Him or praise Him. He'll do just fine without your faith or praise.
It's YOU He's worried about -- not Himself!
Hell is not a place. It's a spiritual state that involves eternal separation from God.
Why is such a spiritual state allowed to exist? Because many people, tragically, decide that they do not want God in their lives -- and they keep to that choice until the very end.
As long as people keep making that choice, Hell will be there. It's not because God "allows" it to be there.
Finally, God sends no one to hell. We cannot blame God for people being in hell, any more than we should blame a judge for a convicted murderer being in prison. Blame the murderer for that, not the judge.
People who go to hell go there by choice -- just as people in prison go there by choice because they chose to break the law.

Any being that created us by default deserves to be worshiped. If we choose not to worship God with our lives, then the consequence is ultimate separation from Him, which is what hell is. Humans cannot now understand how terrible complete separation from God is because God never turns His back on us while there is still a chance for us to come back to Him.

It seems rather obvious that you have not given much real thought to the concept of God and a creature's relationship to Him. Is worship, praise, and adoration so much different from honor, respect, and love -- those qualities we usually have towards our parents? We give [good] parents what is their due; we give to our Creator, the Supreme Being, what is His due and we call that the virtue of religion or worship, praise and adoration.
The stories about God as read in the Old Testament must be interpreted properly, according to the knowledge, time, social and culture milieu of the writers whose thoughts and concepts were quite different from the sophistication of 21st century thinkers. IMO, we are still learning about God and our relationship to Him, but there can be no relationship without our attempt to reach out to Him, get to know Him, meditate on Him and, yes, pray (speak) to Him. Throughout the centuries there have been countless numbers of men and women who have spent their lives in work and prayer, devoting themselves entirely to the task of trying to better know and to come close to God. That takes time and effort on our part, and if we are not willing to learn we will only come to the dismal, emotional kind of conclusion that you seem to have reached.
To know what the Bible really teaches about God takes effort and learning. To know what God is like takes effort and learning -- reading about God from the experience and thought of others and being willing to rid oneself of irrational and emotional bias. The biblical suggestion is right-on: "Taste and see" what God is like.
IF there is a God-Creator who is Father to you and to all of us, then it seems quite important that anyone should try to know God and come to love Him.

First of all, he never said that, man did under the pretense of God and so it is mans doctrine not Gods.
Hell is exactly what YOU make it. For that too is your manifestation of it, you create it and you live in because you believe it. That which you see before your very eyes today is in part, your creation with millions of others. Its hell isn't it.
The monster then is that which lies in all human beings. And in reality, you are part of the who, so you need not pay any attention to yourself for the monster within is the insecure, sadistic, bastard with no Self-esteem.........as YOU STATE.
Isn't condemnation wonderful.....

Hello. well actually, that dude that left all those verse had taken them COMPLETELY out of context. try reading the Bible and see for yourself. also, god asks us to worship Him because yes, He does know how mighty He is. Does that make Him egotistical? not at all, because, you see, it is true. He is such a high and supreme being that no man can fully comprehend Him. But i can feel his love and read His promises every day. my prayers are with you.

Exactly. The Biblical God is the MOST heinous, sadistic, heartless, violent character ever created. Just read the whole Bible and see.

Well, any being that bashes babies' heads against rocks for any reason is one sick puppy.
Not too different from a 5-year old stomping bugs really. Except more psychopathic.

Why do you care who believes in what? The belief philosophy of all of us is valid, and acceptable to me. I don't have to belittle a belief that is different from my own. If this belief does not support violence it's OK.
