I have pretty bad headaches and back pains but my insurance hasn't kicked in yet. My doctor is going to put me on pain meds whenever I stress my issues and need to take them for relief but the cost of these are too much for me before my insurance kicks in. Can I get into trouble for accepting pills from someone else until then? I'm not paying him or anything so it's not like this is a 'drug deal' but I know many people are hooked on these things so I'm a bit worried about getting into trouble as it may be misconstrued as such...what do you think? Wait or accept?

It is illegal for someone to share their prescription with anyone. Possession of this medication without a prescription is illegal. I suggest you find a way to fill your prescription, and ask for generics. This should lower your cost.

It is against the law to accept ANY medication from other people so yes you can get in trouble however I take vicodin everyday and it is very cheap with no insurance, its cheaper to pay cash then to run it through my insurance, you can get the generic(hydrocodone) which is exactly the same and its only around 15.00 or less depending on how many the doctor wrote the script for. so thats not really an excuse for taking other peoples medication. $15.00 is nothing compared to what most other prescription drugs cost anyone can afford that.

Ethically and physically you are asking for trouble. Tough it out!

You might save some money but ruin your status. Drug arrests are nothing to chance.

All drugs have side effects and your doctor knows what your health history is like. Wait for the proper script, would hate to see you have a Bad reaction to something that wasn't prescribed for you.

Friends mean well but jail is no fun!

Well for my school that would be a no if you don't have the vicodin on your person, but it really depends on your school policy.

Yes you can. If you get caught with them on you, you could be charged for possession (since you do not as of yet have a script for them). If you drive and get caught that could be a charge of driving under the influence. I would wait.

If some authority figure found out both you and your friend would get in trouble. Try not to tell anyone else and just keep it a secret if you are going to do it.
