To me it proves that the writers of the bible were not very bright, and the people that believe this story have to either turn of their brains or just not have the capacity to think critically in order to do so.
Even if it were true, all it means is that their god intended for all of mankind to die horribly from the very beginning, and is therefore unfit for worship, but definitely in need of an Iraq Invasion style removal from power.

There was no Magic Evil tree in the Garden of Eden! It was the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. When they ate of the fruit they had knowledge that God did not want man to have. Nothing was ever mentioned about Magic!

Perhaps the tree was a symbol that good and evil lived beside each other since the beginning of time. And that even one taste of evil will consume your soul. Thus the presence of evil increased the need for man to form a relationship with God.

Just because you can't understand something doesn't make it invalid.
The tree was not magic, nor was it all evil. It was the tree of All Knowledge (of both good and evil.)
Of course, God knew all the time what would happen (as He is omniscient) but WE (humanity) did not know, so in his kindness he was teaching us our nature.
This is an easy simple-to-understand illustration, and like everything else in the Bible, is for our learning, knowledge, instruction, reproof, correction, etc.
You are correct---God doesn't need to "test" us for His own knowledge. He already knows everything....including why you asked this particular question.
Hope this helps!

Yes He knew the future, if he did not know the future he would not be God; Isaiah 45:7
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
But like mankind , God is more complicated than what you might first assume. He wanted to be more than just an object of worship and express many of his thoughts and attributes which he could not do without the fall of mankind.
He wanted to be a father, a son, a healer, a Savior, a Redeemer, and so much more and if man did not fall then he could not show all of these things to his people. Also the fall of mankind did not change anything of what God planned for humanity, it only stalled God's plan for a season; 2 Peter 3:8
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
By the account of the Bibles book of Genesis we have been living in time and space 6 thousand years in which the Bible says we are still in the act of creation of Lucifers kingdom which is about to be destroyed by fire. I say Lucifer's Kingdom because in the origional account these is NO nights spoken of, because we are living in the night of Satan's Kingdom.
Son's and daughters of God are the reason God created anything, they are his thoughts expressed, and they are put in a world where they are hated and told to love everybody the same, this is why the world you see is here to test God's children, but he knows who would pass the test before the world was created; Revelation 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Notice the time these people were written in the book.
Revelation 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

The tree itself wasn't "evil". Adam and Eve's disobedience was the evil. If a robot said that they love you would you believe it? No, because a robot doesn't have the CHOICE to love you or not. I guess God decided to let it all happen because he is a "sucker" for our love.

God allows us to be tested. He doesn't make us choose temptation. Had Adam and Eve prayed about the temptation God would have given them strength to resist. Of course he knows what decision we plan on making. He is God. He just wants a closer walk with us therefore he tests us.

And this supports the idea that humans have free will and is not based on some random pre-designed destiny.

God knows the future as prophecied. God does not know the future of a soul with freewill. Satan "created perfect in your ways adorned with every precious jewel..until inquity was found in thee" Freewill is given for a reason....if God knew the exact movement and action of souls and what they would do..why bother? that's like robots....have to say gong on that theory.
