I've heard that they are not at all; I've heard that they are if a chaplain gives it to them before they are deployed. Please clarify.

Yes...and they can pick up camo pocket sized once at various locations on the bases. I picked up a copy while there.

Of course troops in Iraq can have Bibles. Prohibited items in a deployment zone include things like alcohol and pornography; although many troops have pornography, at least. Bibles aren't, and can't, be prohibited; not even in Basic Training.

Susan, The Military preserves the right of soldiers to have Bible, no matter where they are, but particularly in combat.

Absolutely, there allowed to have a Bible.

Not only are soldiers allowed to have Bibles, the military prays a lot...remember there are no atheists in foxholes...

My guess is that they can`t on combat missions but back at base is fine.
