There's a common misconception here: they are actually '7 Capital Vices' (vices as opposed to virtues) and used in early Christian teachings to educate and guide followers on how to lead a moral life.
The term '7 Deadly Sins' was later introduced by Pope Gregory the Great in the 6th Century (that's 500 hundred years later!!!) perhaps to instill fear in it's followers, (a common early Catholic method) and later, even used by Dante Alighieri in his epic poem, 'The Divine Comedy'.
Many others have used this term, including Geoffrey Chauser in his most famous work, 'The Canterbury Tales', namely 'The Parson's Tale' and is also the title of a painting by Hieronymus Bosch, just to mention a couple of which there are more.
It's a well know 'glitch' that through history, certain terms, religious or otherwise, often get twisted and end up far from what they were originally concieved as. A simple example would be that most people think that saying 'Money is the root of all evil' is correct when infact, it's 'the LOVE of money is the root of all evil'...very different meaning!!!

The "supposedly" deadly sins which the Word of God so clearly differentiates from non-deadly sins (1 John 5:16-17) are those which destroy the life of grace that makes us children of God and heirs of heaven, therefore resulting in "spiritual death". One who dies without repenting such a sin forfeits eternal life.

1 John 5:16 - 17
If anyone sees his brother sinning, if the sin is not deadly, he should pray to God and he will give him life. This is only for those whose sin is not deadly. There is such a thing as deadly sin, about which I do not say that you should pray.
All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that is not deadly.

a sin is a sin, there are so many sins,we can even sin with the way we think some times, it's very hard not to sin or even impossible, but there are some worst sin then others and we all know which sin is the worst one,but any sin we make we have to suffer for it,as Jesus said in the cross before he died, father forgive them for they do not know what they do.
But to be forgiven we need to stop to sin,as Jesus said go and sin no more.

Humankind has been listing sins since the days of the ancient Babylonians, (who picked seven to match the seven dominant heavenly bodies (sun, moon, five planets)). But our famous seven deadly ones were written down by Pope Gregory I around 1600 as a teaching tool for the slovenly masses. They do not appear in list form in the Bible, but they are biblical concepts.

1 john 5:17[kjv]All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
what is sin unto death i dont know.
JESUS loves you.Have u recieved JESUS for the forgiveness of your sins?
John 3:16[kjv] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
so when we believe in JESUS we have eternal life.JESUS lived a sinless life and gave up his life as a sacrifice so we can be sin free. Ask JESUS to come into your heart and forgive ur sins and cleanse ur past with the blood JESUS shed on the cross.
With a simple prayer like above u can be saved.JESUS loves u and wants u to be saved.

I think the difference is that those sins are the easiest to get involved and caught up in. Therefore making it more difficult to walk a righteous path. I'm not christian but it makes sense.
They're just BAD habits that are hard to kick.
