Amen to your beautiful analogy, out lives are much like this isn't it.God is still with us,sometimes allowing the thorns to harm us,but never destroy us.

I think it's much more likely that the roses evolved thorns as a means of collecting moisture in the morning so that the fluid will gather over the thorns and run down to nourish the roses roots.
I will ring your doorbell and run away!!!

How about this interpretation? God created roses with thorns, to show that life will bring both beautiful things and hard times- accept them both from God, and you will grow.

I just think roses are the best way to get you off the couch after upsetting your true god, aka, the wife. Say what you want, but if you upset her she can make your life hell a lot quicker than any concept of god can.
p.s. do you also praise him for making crusaders christian? Do you praise him for putting meat that animals can eat in people? Do you praise him for putting childmolesters in clergyman robes? Just curious...
