Okay, so my boyfriend purchased me a plane ticket to go visit him out in Texas. Now I've never flown, so I'm full of nerves, so don't laugh at the question. He purchased the ticket online, and it's an eticket. Now what exactly do I need to get the ticket when I get there? Obviously, I don't have the credit card he used to purchase the ticket, and on some sites I've read that you have to have the card from which the purchase was made... Is that true? Or do I just need my ID?

Well since it's an e-ticket, he can e-mail the receipt to you. You can print it and carry it with you just in case. However the only thing you really need to do it walk up to the counter and show them you drivers license. They will pull your name up and print your boarding pass from that, they don't have to have the credit card as the ticket is already paid for.

Even easier, you can go on-line and print your own boarding pass the day before the flight. If you have carry on only, you just walk to the security check point and board the plane. No worries at all.

With some airlines, the walk up kiosk requires "your" credit card to activate (some will work with your drivers license). However it doesn't require the credit card the ticket was purchased with to do so.

You are not required to have the credit card the ticket was purchased with to check in. Don't worry, people buy tickets for others all the time and everyone gets on the plane.

Have fun.

No you don't need the credit card purchased. They use the card to bring up your itinerary info and print your boarding pass at the airport kiosk, but the same can be done using your name or ticket number. If you want you can check in online within 24 hours of your flight, or you can just wait until you get to the airport. Definitely bring your ID. Also remember you cant bring any liquids past security that are more than 3 oz, and any 3 oz liquid items you do have need to be in a ziploc bag. Also you will have to take off all metal, jackets and your shoes to go through security, so dress comfortably.
