I'm pagan (since I was 15 yrs old) but raised in an Italian catholic family.
At 19 I married a non-practicing Southern Baptist.
What a combo, eh?
But we got married in the Catholic church.
It didn't matter to me that's where my parents wanted to see me married. I didn't have a problem with it. Under the eyes of "God" was the same as "blessed by the Goddess" for me.
When kids came along, I had them baptised, and they went through the CCD classes for first communion and up to confirmation (which is traditionally done around 12 or 13).
At that point they were each fully aware that I had different beliefs, and they were given a choice to continue in the catholic faith, or choose to be taught paganism by me, or choose another spiritual path altogether.
My son decided not to pursue either. He's 30 now.
My oldest daughter decided to make her confirmation at 21 yrs old, and stay in the catholic faith. (she's 27 now)
My youngest daughter (23) has not made up her mind either way, but leans toward paganism.
Religion should be a choice, but to make a good educated choice, one needs to be given good, solid options.
My kids got the options...

We have been given married in a church, becuase we felt that Spirit is particularly significant to us,and we had to have that represented. the guy that married us develop right into a seventh Day Adventest pastor that develop right into a chum of the kin, a 2nd technology priest and it develop into the 1st wedding ceremony he had ever performed. His dad had the excellence of in no way having every physique he'd ever married get divorced. i'm extra Pagan/Spiritualist besides, yet we've been happy we did no longer in simple terms decide for a magistrate wedding ceremony. i might in no way christen my infants in a church however.

Never been married. If I get married it will NOT be in a church. I have no children and if I do, they will NOT be christened.
