Can Some of the people who fall away from God be explained due to their lack of personal connection? What I mean is, did they live off of others experiences and evidence of God? Like those raised in Chruch or saved by excitment of the moment of believing and then never really actually having their own moment with God it faded in time?

That is a very keen observation on your part and is what Christ is speaking of in Mark 4:16-17

The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. 17 But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word.

Possibly. So too, some people think that knowing ABOUT God is equal to KNOWING God. It is not.
For some, they still think they have to earn it by doing the best they can.
Some people think they've inherited the faith, but God doesn't have Grandchildren.
A person has to have a relationship WITH God.
As with any relationship, you have to spend time with the other person. It could indeed be their lack of connection.

This is the kind of question where the answer is almost always reverse-engineered from the answerer's beliefs about the issue. If someone believes that the truly saved would not be capable of turning their backs on God, then anyone who has fallen away was never really saved to begin with (it "didn't take"). Of course, anyone worshipping alongside the answerer is presumed to be truly saved, unless/until someone falls, in which case they were retroactively not saved.

Questions about sexual orientation and "Did he/she ever really love me?" show the same sort of retroactive logic.

that's one reason, but others fall away from betrayal from others within church walls , and or bad experiences during their walk with God . Instead of seeeing the trial as a way of growing closer to God they see it as a punishment from God and leave I believe wholeheartedly. My friend went through a horrid divorce from an abusive and alcoholic husband with 6 children while serving God full time at the church, She blamed God for almost 20 years for this and sought other attempts at spiritual contentment through new age precepts.

But Praise God She is back in the Lord stronger than ever , so don't worry about(but do pray) for those who fall away for a time God is working a mighty tapestry of miracles in their life for their return to Him as the word says no one can break the seal he has on us in our lives and his love for us is so intense he knows how to get us back through series of events. The biggest thing I've learned as a christian is God's time table is definatlely not mine and I must respect that and trust in that. Just as I have been in my 5 th or more year of giving up on folks they come back more annointed then ever ministering to me Praise God

Yes, that is a case for some people. Most of the time, though, it is just because people forget the experiences and connections they did have with God and chose to go another way.

The sower sows the word.

These are the ones along the path where the word is sown: when they hear, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word sown in them.

And these are the ones sown on rocky ground: when they hear the word, immediately they receive it with joy. But they have no root in themselves; they are short-lived. When affliction or persecution comes because of the word, they immediately stumble.

Others are sown among thorns; these are the ones who hear the word, but the worries of this age, the seduction of wealth, and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

But the ones sown on good ground are those who hear the word, welcome it, and produce a crop: 30, 60, and 100 times [what was sown].”
Mark 4:14-20

I think you are referring to those who "have no root in themselves".

Falling away from God means we no longer act in accordance with God. In my faith, I am saved through the grace of Jesus Christ and once being reborn as a child of God, I am His child forever - regardless. It is an unalterable fact, not subject to change. Just as it has been recorded that my three children are my three children, so am I, then, a child of God for it has been recorded. We are born unto an earthly mother and father and while we may go through periods of life when we aren't mindful of them, they are still our parents and are mindful of us. Same is true with God, though we may not be mindful of Him.

I think most people who "fall away" failed to followup on their commitment by educating them self in Scripture and deepening their relationship with God.

I'm sorry if this has happend to you but no. you aren't saved by going to church or your parents being christians. you are saved by your faith and your faith alone. if you look in revelation God said "i have this one thing against you: you have lost your first love" He goes on to say that "basically" they needed to repent. and repent in Greek or latin means to "return to the highest point" if you would, recall when adam and eve first were in the garden of eden and they walked and talked with God. He wants us to "repent" so we can do these things once again and to have fellowship with Him. God also says to "strengthen what remains" God only wants us to be with him Behold He is at the door and he knocks if anyone hears his voice and opens the door he will come in and eat and you with him. This is the word of the Lord. Go and repent. Go and return to Him.For in his presence all things will be known. nothing will be hidden that will not be seen.

God desires relationship with us, he does his part, and we have to do our part.
Just like a marriage, if the relationship isn't nurtured, or only nurtured by one person, chances are it will fail.
Relationship with God requires a daily, hourly, minute-by-minute commitment and nurture.
