Eating fewer calories with exercise will help you lose weight. It really doesn't matter what restaurant you go to if you are consuming fewer calories overall and exercising more. The occasional sandwich is fine but I find it difficult to imagine daily consumption of sub sandwiches of any kind (even those with vegetables in them) in a well-balanced diet.
On the bread choice issue: don't fall for the "wheat bread" designation. All bread, including white bread, is made from wheat. Also don't fall for bread that's brown in color. What you want is 100% whole wheat bread, no matter where you buy it.

Depends on what you order. If you get the meatball sandwich, then no. But if you order the turkey sandwich on wheat bread with no mayo, then yes. One of my favorite is the chicken breast on wheat bread. Just Remember when ordering a sandwich stay away from white bread always got wheat, and try to lay off the mayo. I know that a tough one cause theres so many people out there that like mayo. But have you ever looked at the back of the bottle. Way to much fat.

Subway sandwiches are really healthy and you would definitely lose weight with proper exercising. There is a substantial amount of bread but unless you're going low-carb it shouldn't be a problem. The meat in their subs would add more calories and fat as well so you might want to consider just having vegetables on your sandwich (along with cheese, condiments, etc.)

Well, taking a step back for just a moment the real thing is not eating subway per say but rather eating less fat and fewer calories than you ate prior to the subway diet....
I mean in this instance, nutrition and diet are really two different things....
You see, let's say that you weigh 200lbs and you consume 3000 calories a day to maintain that weight. Well, in order to lose 1lb you need to create a calorie deficit of 3500. This means that in order to lose 1 pound per week (strictly using diet alone) you need to eat 500 fewer calories per day.
To put it in the most simple terms. Let's say that you eat a Burger King Whopper every day 7 days a week for lunch. I am just going to do some fast and loose math here with calories alone so you can get a picture of how it would make a difference:
1 Whopper 670 Calories
1 6" Turkey Breast (Subway) 280 Calories
Again, in terms of calories alone (not including fat 39g vs. 4.5g) You are saving yourself 390 calories per day at lunch! This means that you would have to cut back about 110 calories in other meals to lose 1 lb in 1 week.
Now speaking in terms of fat...generally it is accepted that 9 calories are in every gram of fat. Keep in mind that there is a difference between the way that fat and calories are stored (and thus burned) but...let's just treat fat like calories for right now...
Fat in Whopper 39g * 9 = 351 calories from fat
Fat in 6" Turkey 4.5g * 9 = 40.5 calories from fat
So in that one meal alone you are reducing your overall caloric intake by 700.5 calories and you are well on your "weigh" to losing 1 lb....
Of course, Subway might not be the most healthy food out there and whole grain is much better than white bread but it's a lot better than McDonald's or Burger King.

It's good depending on what you get, you can find a list of fat and calories at www.subway.com. As long as you don't get the meal and only the 6" sub on wheat most of them aren't bad. You do need to exercise and stay away from the double meat and provolone cheese

Only if what you were eating before was worse.
subway is not a "healthy" choice. They may have healthier food options than Mcdonalds or burger king, but still the best is to formulate your own eating plan based on an understanding of nutrition.

If you're following a low calorie diet, and get one of their recommended low calorie subs with no mayo or cheese or anything like that (just meat and veggies), I'd sure it would work, with exercise. Oh, and no soda or chips when you go there either. And especially, no cookie!! (Makes subway less appetizing in my opinion).

Its better than stuff you could be eating, like fast food. Yeah its pretty healthy because theres not much to it, but it would probably be a lot cheaper if you just make something healthy to eat at home.
