I'm sick of the goodie people, how we should do this, we should do that....

Mostly we do what we want, and rightly so

Let me hear from you, I'll post your (SHORT) response, I write a health article.

Often people learn more from the truth

If you are a health professional you probably already know the truth. The harmful effects of nicotine addiction are well documented. If you are not a health professional, you are probably not qualified to write a health article about it.

If you are trying to get smokers on Yahoo!Answers to agree with you that other people are not affected by the bad habits of smokers, I am sure you can find some people who will, but that does not equal "truth".

The truth is, smokers ruin their own lives, and often cause damage to others around them, not to mention damaging everything they come near.

You are right about one thing. you are in charge of yourself, and no one else is. Only you can make yourself do what's right, and I'm sure you know perfectly well that smoking is NOT it.

It has nothing to do with people's rights to smoke. As a taxpayer, I pay for people's "right" to smoke. When people smoke their whole lives they are bound to have lots and lots of health problems. These bills are too much for the smoker so taxpayers foot the bill. Why do you think when states grouped together and sued big tobacco for healthcare costs they have had to pay as a result of people smoking their whole life they won?

If your talking about weed, marajuana, refer, its no problem, at all and it helps people who have illnesses and cancer. However if your talking about ciggarette smoking thats a diff story. I'm not going to presume to tell someone what they should do. This is my 22nd day of NOT smoking, and allthough I pheen everyday for a cigg, it's not that strong anymore. Still usually after meals. My grandmother died of lung cancer, and stupid me still was smoking years after that on and off. I'm pregnant, I had to quit if not for me, for my baby. My grandmother had chemo, radiation, threw up everything she ate, lost her hair, lost weight dramaticly. Was in the hospital for three weeks and we took her home, along with hospice, if u dont know what that is, it is nurses to help with her med and make her comfortable before she died. She was in pain, had bed sores, couldnt get up anymore, had to be changed, wasnt eating, then wasnt drinking, and finally she died January 26th around 1 pm of 2002. We all knew she would die, but I was the one who found her not breathing, and she passed away. We had the minister come over and say a prayer around her and called people to come and get her to get ready to bury her. Now, if you think smoking is cool, or you dont care, wait until your loved one dies of cancer because of smoking, or emphasyma. Then you will care. God Bless

Like dangerous sports such as sky diving or motor bikes people should be allowed to smoke as long as they don't affect other people.
I smoke a couple of premium cigars a week.
