"And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so."

There's no mention of shifting plates or one land mass becoming several.

Is this different than the biblical argument against evolution?
How so?

At first there was no land that was above the water.
Than some of the land sank (and some was lifted up) and dry ground appeared.

There seams to have been more land than ocean before the flood (or maybe about 50/50).

There was also more water under the ground than there is today. At the time of the flood, God opened the fountains of the deep.

Also at the time of the flood the ice shield collapsed around the earth's magnetic poles (adding more water which is still melting back today).

After the flood the ground settled under the new weight of the water (plus the water that was released from underground), this made some areas of the ocean deeper and some land higher.

Finally, the ice caps melted back causing the oceans to be at their present levels.

There's no need to mention shifting plates or land masses breaking up -- the plain meaning of the text is that God commanded the dry land to suddenly appear. Had God felt that the fine details were necessary, they would have been included in Scripture.

By the way, Genesis 7:11 does hint about this concept.

Whoa, there's separate things here.
I think I see what you're getting at though.
No one disputes plate tectonics. There is a mention of a man born during that time, Peleg, in Genesis, it says in the Bible that is when the land was divided. Whether or not this is a reference to the beginning of the movement, we really cannot say for certain.
Evolution has nothing to do with this. At least, from what I can see.

So via your good judgment you need to declare that the earths gravity would not exist because of the fact that is in undemanding terms a "concept" (concept of gravitation and customary concept of relativity) or that song can no longer probably exist because of the fact it incorporates theories. bounce off a cliff and glide to disprove gravity pay attention to a symphony and not be conscious diverse differences to disprove song concept seem at a fault line and say there are not any tectonic plates

There is a mention of it in the Bible, but it is more of a passing comment. Genesis 10:25 "Two sons were born to Eber: One was Peleg, because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan." It is widely taught that this is a reference to the forming of the continents.

Evidence for plate tectonic theory:

South America happens to look like it would fit in with Africa.

Two of the same kind of animal were found on Africa AND South America!

Oh my, such compulsive evidence. But hey, you can see them moving...

Does it really effect your daily life if the plates are moving? No, so why bother?

Does it really matter that one day, Asia will collide with Canada? No, we'll all be dead and gone...

There is no mention of Plate Tectonics in the bible because 2000 years ago, people didn't know about it.

Maybe that is how G-d made the lands, the Continental drift was just because of the plates movement. I really have no idea.

19 Two sons were born to Eber. One of them was named Peleg, because the earth was divided during his lifetime, and the name of his brother was Joktan.
