I'm 5'3", I weigh about 110 lbs. My mom's been yelling at me for the past few hours saying that I don't eat right and that I'm anorexic and stuff like that. Isn't anorexia more of a mental condition/disease rather than being a bit underweight? Like yeah, I don't eat that wonderfully, I eat more junk food than I should, but I don't starve myself, you know?

If you aren't starving yourself, then you're not anorexic. And you might be on the skinny side, but you'd have to be about 15 lbs lighter to be considered anorexic.

P.S. If you eat a lot of junk now, that trend is likely to continue in life. Just because you can eat junk and be skinny now doesn't mean your body won't catch up. Do your body a favor and start eating some more fruits, veggies, and whole grains.

There's more to being anorexic than being underweight. An anorexic also obsesses about their weight. They weigh themsleves like 10 times a day. They count calories down to tthe last crumb. Also the obsess over healthy food. Since you admit to eating a lot of junk food, you're probably jsut skinny but not anorexic.

No you are not anorexic, but with your bad eating habits, it is almost as bad. You are not feeding your body of the nutrients it requires so it is feeding off of your muscles. The term is called catabolism. There are many illnesses that can occur from that.

I would consult with a nutritionist so that you can get an over perspective on how to improve your eating habits.

Trust me, by eating more meat, carbohydrates and veggies, not only will your body LOSE weight, but you will also get lean muscle which is necessary to stay healthy.

Good Luck

Be honest with yourself - do you eat three meals a day plus 2 small snacks? If not, you're not eating often enough.

Also, anorexic women aren't always underweight. Often times it starts out with an unhealthy obsession with food, and can even be combined with excessive exercise (workout to burn exactly as many calories as consumed.)

not eatting or being obsessive about how much you eat, or how much you exercise is when you have to worry about being anorexic. you're probably just one of the lucky ones with a high metabolism. just make sure you're eatting enough calories a day, like 1800-2000 to be safe. you dont want to put your body into starvation mode where it will start eatting away at your muscles to get nutrition.

You can see that you are underweight so you cant be anorexic! Yes it is a mental illness and people who suffer from it see themselves as too fat and stop themselves from eating. Sometimes people have voices in their head telling them not to eat.

Not yet. 110lbs is NOT underweight for a person who is 5'3". I'm 5'4" and I know I will be underweight if I weigh less than 105lbs... I am currently 5'4" 110lbs and I'm nowhere near being anorexic. You should be okay too...

hey i know a girl that is your same height and she weighs 80 pounds and you would call her anerexic. it really all depends on your bone structure and muscle amount so you might be fine for you frame and structure. You might want to look it up because you might be underweight by a lot..
