There is no total cure. Just when you think you have conquered it, it will appear and make you realize that it is part of you. Several of my uncles and cousins used to stutter with every sentence. All of them got the book "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" from The Stuttering Foundation (www.stutteringhelp.org) and worked through the steps diligently over and over and then started back over again. Only one was able to also go to a speech therapist who specialized in treating stuttering at the same time he worked through the book. All of them have overcome the stuttering with the exception of times of extreme stress. If you try working through the steps in the book on your own, you have to go through them slowly and not just read the book. You have to work at it and practice, practice, practice.

Hi..i know what i am saying when i say i understand about stammering and stuttering. Believe me.. I always wished there was some way to stop it..in my case..it comes and goes..problem is...i stammer when i'm nervous or when i have to talk in front of a crowd or if i just have to say something just spontaniously...
I went through a bad time..i was laughed at...poked fun at..
I didnt know how to stop it....but the thing is...when someone asks me something..i know what to say..just that ..the words..dont come out...and when they do..its shaky...
I do reccomend speech therapy..but it is expencive..i helped my self by reading slowly out loud sometimes and i spoke slowly. I took deep breaths first and thought out my answers and what i wanted to say.. and slowly said it..i built up my self confidence by standing in front of the mirror and talking...just talking about life and school..work..friends..everything and anything...
Eventually i realized..that i am the only person who can help me with my stammering..it wont go away fast..there is no pill.. no medication.. I just have to have confidence...i must speak slowly...take deep breaths before talking...
Today..i conduct training sessions..i stand in front on a podium...and talk to hundreds of students.. when i feel as if i am about to stumble in my words..i stop..swallow..breathe and then i continue..
I dont worry anymore about what people say about me. There are many different kinds of people out there in this world...its who you are that counts..just have confidence..the stammering and stuttering will eventually subside..you must believe that...only you can help your self.. remember..breathe..talk slowly..swallow if you think you are going to stumble on your words.. and continue.
I wish you all the best. Take Care.

I would say from personal experience to try to reduce the stress in your life. Easier said than done, right?
I find that I stutter whenever I'm under a lot of pressure. I have to force myself to slow down and try not to have so many open projects both at work and at home. Good luck!

pay attention to the words or phrases that bring your stuttering on and when you say then take a deep breath before you do while looking down and speak them slowly

Try to practice talking in front of the mirror. Then once you feel confident, practice in front of your family. and then your friends. keep talking infront of less relative people until you just stop. my sister had a stuttering problem. she did that, and now she talks perfect. [= hope i helped.
