Depends on the airline.
For example, American Airlines does not charge for a "lap child", however that is only for children under two years old. With American Airlines, you would have to buy a ticket for the child. Many airlines discount those tickets, some do not. You need to check the details of the airline you wish to travel as they are all different.

Yes. They will charge 75%. And some airlines will charge 80%. If the kid is less than 2 years, then they will charge 10 to 15%.

Yes they do charge you but not the full price of an adult ticket. And since you pay for your child they get their own seat, which in some cases can be great.
Under the age of two they do "lap child" where your child under the age of 2 is free but you have to have your child on your lap if there are no open seats. Which on a long flight is no fun whatso ever.
Hope that helps

Probably depends on the airline. Usually they charge 2years and up. Rate may be cheaper for children also.
