This what I found.
Varieties
Skirt steak is also known as the “butcher steak” because it’s rarely found on meat counters—the butcher takes this one home.
Definition: Cut from the beef flank, the skirt steak is the diaphragm muscle (which lies between the abdomen and chest cavity). It's a long, flat piece of meat that's flavorful but rather tough. Properly cooked, skirt steak can be quite tender and delicious. It can either be quickly grilled, or stuffed, rolled and braised. Recently, skirt steak has become quite fashionable because of the delicious Southwestern dish, fajitas. See also beef.

It is also called fajita steak.
Flank steak is not the same as skirt steak, they come from two different parts of the animal and taste different. Both are very tough, have lots of flavor, and must be sliced across the grain. Like I said above, skirt steak is normally used for fajitas and a mexican dish called "carne asada de res", which is basically a grilled steak while flank steak is used for London Broil.

I agree with the previous answer: FLANK STEAK (or fajita steak since it is most often used in fajitas due to the texture, thickness, cost effectiveness, etc).
Skirt or Flank Steak is a boneless cut of beef from the lower part of the brisket.

Flank steak is a similar cut. You can always ask for it. Most of the large grocery chains cut at least some of their own meat and will be happy to help you out.

Flank steak is the same thing, and you could use it in any recipe calling for skirt steak.

Just ask the meat manager. The same cut goes by several different names. And it's true for a lot of cuts. I was looking for "pork butt" once and couldn't find it. I asked the woman if they had any and she said "They're right here." It had a different name for the cut. She was very pleasant and explained how different places give them different names. So don't be afraid to ask!

When you can't find what you want in the market don't be afraid to ask the manager to get the butcher to help you. When I don't see the cut I want I usually stick my head behind the doors where the butcher is and ask and they will get it for you no problems.
