Didnt really think about it before but I am constantly checking out throughout the day. I get so into my head and whatever I am thinking about that I forget that I am at work or school or whatever. I am constantly trying to find a place that will calm me down. How can I learn to stay in the moment? Especially when I am constantly avoiding feelings. I want to let them all out so bad but they wont come out. I cant heal if they dont. I cant take care of myself if they dont come out. I know these things cant be rushed but Im losing the energy to hold it together. How do I get these feelings out ?!

if thoughts are overhwelming you while you are trying to concentrate on the moment, this is whats known as Intrusive Thought Syndrome. it means there are residual memories which your mind feels are not completely resolved and is pressing you to acknowledge them

talk to a counsellor or a friend, its nothing major to worry about and you'll feel a lot better discussing it with someone qualified to help you.

You could talk to a friend or a mental health professional. You could talk to a psychiatrist and get medication that would help. There are all kinds of solutions, it just depends on how serious it is. And sometimes its hard for the patient to judge how serious it is.

What you are describing has some overlap with ADD or ADHD. Have you read about those disorders? There are various books out that advise people with ADD how to stay focused. Check at the library or bookstore.

You have to train yourself to be present. There are entire communities and cultures that devote themselves to this.

Take a look at Hindu and Buddhist meditation.

I personally make time to sit still, think about nothing for several minutes, then delve deeply into what I feel. Not what is causing my feelings, but rather, just viewing my feelings... siting with them, feeling them. You discover that your feelings are more predictable and to some degree arbitrary than you may have at first realized. Over time this makes for powerfull emotional control
