The West has feared China since the days of the Napoleon ("Beware the sleeping giant for when it awakens it will have a voracious appetite"). While China's military is growing, the "sleeping giant" has some serious social and ecological problems in his own backyard. Could it become a threat? China's military has not be truly tested since the formation of the People's Republic of China - for now I think the only thing the West needs to fear is fear itself.

Nope it does not. China is a powerful country and looks after it own affairs and America can not do squat about it. The thing is we all have the bomb and a it was designed to do if china attacked the west then NATO would have to respond then someone would launch a bomb then so would the other till there was no world left so what is the point! They say it is estimated the world would last 30 mins in a full on nuclear war! Back in the old days when the USSR was our enemy the the whole of Europe was there for a blocking force for a land war wand was given just 48 hours to hold out that is why we have the bomb, it is just like a load of blokes in a room all holding a gun at each other if 1 pulls the trigger then they all do everyone dies just like the idea behind the bombs daft init but I doubt anyone is that crazy to use them.

China & Russia for years have had enough weapons to destroy the world, as have the U.S., but we are still here.
If you truly want peace in the world you either arm every one, or you disarm everyone. Either way you defeat the problem of one nation bullying another nation.

Yeah, they could become a threat------to stopping insanity.

no they are doing the same thing the USA does, They are protecting their world interests. China is investing in Africa heavily, they will need to bring stability to Africa, for them to receive any benefit.

yes it is.they are becoming a super power and are going to relplace US which is loosing its sheen.They have built huge infrastrecture,let it be anything,they did it.Now they are slowly swallowing the world as is evident from the no of chineese we see in international airports and markets.Tomorrow is China's.
