I'm going on a Norwegian cruise (NCL) out of NY and it's for my brother's bachelor party so I was wondering if there was some way that I could sneak booze on board. Do they thoroughly check the luggage and if so would they really find one bottle?

Actually, most cruise lines, including NCL do not "let" you take your own liquor onboard. NCL might check more thoroughly than lines, but many are becoming stricter. I do know that if NCL finds it they will hold it until the end of the cruise.

If you don't want to take the chance, or even if you do, but want to have a backup plan just in case, you can order a bar setup BEFORE the cruise. A bottle will be delivered to your room. The price is a bit higher than a liquor store, but much cheaper than buying individual drinks at the ship's bar.
Call 1-866-625-1159 and ask for your ship's coordinator. Tell him/her you want to order a bar setup. Here is a list with prices that were good 8 months ago - http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2264197270059187889kExPdr

Most cruises let you take drink on with you,,although Fred.Olsen which is a norwegian cruise company doesnt let you and "confiscates" it for the druration of the cruise (they put it into storage in the hold of the ship)..so youd be better off getting big water bottles and then filling them with vodka -- trust me this works!! =D x3 GUD LUK! x3

All you need to do is put it in your checked in luggage and you will be fine. Do not carry it on.
I transfer vodka into empty Club Soda bottles, then put them into zip lock bags. That way you don't have to worry about the bottles breaking.
NCL SUCKS. But try to have a good time anyway. Should be going Royal or Princess.

i did not sneak it on as quickly as we first boarded with the aid of fact i replaced into afraid if I have been given caught they might not enable me to board so i did not take the possibility. The beverages on board are notably quite priced and strong. additionally, they sell alcohol on board for super low fee (yet they don't transport it on your stateroom till the final day.) as quickly as we went to St. Thomas we offered some pints of rum and my boyfriend replaced into waiting to sneak it on yet as quickly as we went to Puerto Rico and tried to do it back, he have been given caught. They took it from him and gave it back to us on the final day, they have been notably cool approximately it. So, i don't understand in case you decide on for to do it formerly you board with the aid of fact there is extra protection yet...its a 50-50 shot..you're able to or won't get caught :) i might certainly attempt doing the water bottle subject, they actually weren't that intense with beverages so which you're able to get fortunate with that! :) or deliver a coke bottle, fill it up and pour in simple terms slightly of coke in there to furnish it that coke look....i dont comprehend...Get innovative while you're intense approximately it, in any different case, in simple terms appreciate the beverages they have on board!

Just pack your bottle of liquor in your checked baggage (not your carry-on).
