There is only one - Black Bush by Bushmills - drink it - one measure with two DROPS of water to break the flavour. This is an incredible whiskey - however, on a bad day i have been known to resort to Tullamore Dew and i love it!

Sorry about this but - Whisky is Scottish.
WHISKEY is Irish.

It is because of the refining processes that Irish Whiskey is so flavoursome and well rounded, but it doesn't have some of the peatty-smoke fire aftertaste that such as Lagavulin, Glenfarclas, Loch Dhu or Glenglassaugh have and at the end of the day it really is each to his/her own - i have ended up a better and more enlightened taster by not discriminating but by enjoying each for what it is.

theres lots of good Irish Whiskey. All Irish whiskey is triple distilled, as opposed to scottish whisky (twice) or american whisky (once). The extra 'E' in the name is in recognition of the extra effort involved in the distillation. American whisky is also known as bourbon, (which probably means poison).
I like Jameson and black bush, but if you want a good one go for an aged bottle. Jameson 12 year old or bushmills 10 year old are good, not to expensive (approx €35) and in Tescos. otherwise try a middleton 25 year old for about €120 a bottle. Slainte.

My sister swears by Old Paddy - says it's the best whisky she has tasted. By the way, the Irish, in common with the Americans spell whisky as "whiskey".

I like Michael Collins, but here's a site with some info about a few different kids of Irish whiskey.

I like Jameson.

Ironically, when I was in Florence I met a guy from Ireland and offered to do a shot of whiskey with him. I told him to pick his favorite (since he was Irish and all) and he said Jack Daniels. ?????? Personally, I'll take the Jameson.

Jameson..
you can drink it straight or you can make an Irish Car Bomb if you can't handle it straight up or on the rocks.

Irish Car Bomb
1/2 pint Guinness
1 oz Jamison
1/2 oz Bailey's Irish cream

Pour Guiness into a pint glass. Float Baileys on top of Jamison in shot glass. Drop shot glass, carefully, into Guiness. Drink quickly before it curdles.

I love Irish Mist. In fact, I had a glass of it while in Ireland! Now, THAT brings back some good memories. :-)
