I am getting my husband stuff for fishing for fathers day and I want to make sure I get all the important stuff in his tackle box. He already has fishing poles and hooks but what are the necessities for a tackle box?

I like the idea of the gift card. It lets him get the things he wants and needs. Over time, a single tackle box isn't large enough. At that point, and what I do, I simply organize by the type of bait it is and then can pick and choose from those for a fishing outing.

A tackle box is very personalized. It usually contains whatever the fisherman favors. Some want pliers others don't. Some want rope, others don't. And some don't like tackle boxes, others do. As long as he has hooks, sinkers, floats, everything else is a luxury.

Start with a spinner bait, then add a couple of 3/0 hooks with 6-7 inch worms, add worm weights that are about the size of your pinky finger nail.. These things are a must have for a new fishing box that will catch lots of fish...

Minnie,
Best bet, because your hubby sounds like he's a fisherman
would be what henry and sexy bass suggested, a gift card. You'd accomplish two things by goin' that route, the thought (Fathers Day) and him bein' able ta' be like a kid in a toy store ie., pickin' what he likes ;)...

A man's tacklebox is as personal as a woman's purse per say. I'm assuming you were wanting to surprise him with it but if you really want to be assured it's what he likes, take him along & let him pick out things he wants, then choose from them. That way,it's still a surprise of sorts & you know it's what he wants.

go with a gift card from bass pro shops, cabelas, dick's, or gander mountain. Its pretty hard buying fishing stuff for other people.

best to buy the box you want him to have with a gift card to the sports shop in it and let him get the gear he wants .
