rule over the earth. So I believe that these will rule over the "great crowd" the ones left on the earth who were found righteous and who serve the true God, Jehovah.
But for those people who believe that everyone is going to either heaven or hell, who do you think will be left on the earth for those 144,000 to rule over?

Just curious.

The resurrected ones will be brought back to life to the earthly paradise. They will also be the ones ruled over by the 144,000.

It isn't talking of 144,000 individuals, it is speaking of tribes.

Me and my hubby have friends that are Jehovah's Witnesses and we just all agree to disagree on the bible. I really don't understand where they get their translations from, and I don't get the Watchtower.

The 144,000 come from the 12 tribes of Judah. The bible says that the Jewish nation are his chosen people. It is out of those that the 144,000 will be chosen. Their mission will be to spread the word of God throughout the land. After the second coming of Christ there will be 1000 years in which mankind will be on earth. I believe it is during that time that we will see the 144,000 ruling over the gentiles that had accepted Christ as Savior.

The 144,000 are Jewish believers who preach the gospel during the tribulation. They are from all the 12 tribes .They will be hunted down by the forces of Anti-Christ and executed, martyred. They are special to God . But it is Jesus who will rule and reign for 1000 years on earth after the tribulation .All the believers in Christ who are resurrected or raptured become "Kings and Priests " of God for eternity.
The 144,000 are really only important in their mission during the 7 year tribulation period.

It is referring to Spiritual Jews rather then actual Jews.

the fact that the 144,000 are being sealed prior to the seven trumpets, indicates physical people involved starting with Jesus disciples.

The Tribes are symbolic.

Of the twelve tribes the two tribes of Dan and Ephraim are missing, to be replaced by Joseph and Levi. In most of the OT lists Joseph is replaced by his sons Ephraim and Manasseh (Gen 48:5, Josh 14:3-4). Since both Joseph and Manasseh are listed then you could say that Manasseh is listed twice. Levi is excluded from most lists because he should not be included in a census (Num 1:49). In the lists of the inheritance of land Levi is missing because the priestly tribe of Levi did not have its own inheritance of Land (Deu 10:9), but was kept by means of the tithes of the other tribes (Deu 18:1). Instead the Lord was their inheritance (Deu 10:9).

The fact that two out of the twelve tribes are missing is a major problem for those who take this list literally.

New Jerusalem will descend from heaven to the Earth and God will make the Earth a paradise again.

Rev 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Psa 37:11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Those who are not of the 144,000 standing in front of Jesus when New Jerusalem is on Earth.

Rev 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

It is NOT talking about tribes as mentioned above but instead 144,000 individuals from different tribes and nations.

So it has to be the "great crowd" or everyone else who believes in the true god and who actually do what he says that will be ruled by these 144,000 chosen ones.

And contrary to what people are saying, there are still some left of those 144,000 alive today, of course they stretch back since the day of Jesus but some are still alive today.

A very good question. There will be those that make it through Armageddon, just like Noah and his family made it through the flood. Then there will be the resurrection of the dead. Jesus said at John 5:28 & 29 "Do not marvel at this for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29) and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgement.

This happens after Armageddon.

Revelation 5:9 "And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to [did purchase unto] God by the blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;"

Jesus Christ was worthy, and He paid an awesome price. He was our kinsman redeemer who paid the exact price necessary to save us from our sins, when we repent. That salvation is extended even to the "Kenite", if he will believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and repent. Then, even he will become a child of God, and not of Satan.

That song He, and all the rest of the children of God will sing in the Millennium, is recorded in the fifteenth chapter of Revelation, it's called the "song of Moses".

Revelation 7:4 "And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Is'-ra-el."

This seal has nothing to do with going to heaven; but it is the full knowledge of How to stand against the wiles of Satan the Antichrist. This has to take place before the "son of perdition" [Satan] sets his feet on this earth as the Antichrist. You will know how to identify Satan, from the true Christ, or you will be deceived by the Antichrist and become part of his system. Satan is that good, and the Word of God declares it before the fact.

This sealing will be marked in the minds of God's elect in all the tribes of Israel. If you believe this is referring only to the Jews, then you are far off base. The "House of Israel" comprise ten of the twelve tribes, and they were scattered long ago. We know them today as the Christian nations of the Americas, Western Europe, and wherever else they migrated to, and now exist. The book of Hosea details this fact for us.

A) That number is Jewish symbolism for "everybody". A number of completion.

B) Revelation says "a new heaven and a new earth". I take that to mean a world, glorified, as we will be, but familiar in its aspects. And we get to be there.

C) Trying to decide what's literal, what's figurative, what's analogical and what's philosophical in Scripture is VERY tricky business. That's why the Church wasn't too thrilled about everyone trying to do it all by their poorly educated selves. But they did it anyway. And the fruits by which we know them? 348 (not counting cults like David Koresh's or James Jones') different Christian denominations, that's the fruits.

There are twenty-four elders in Rev 4:4 representing the righteous prophets called to serve the people of the earth during the first 6000 years.

The people who accept the prophets’ message are those who are symbolically represented as receiving the “seal of God” in their foreheads; or in other words, their intentions and thoughts are turned toward God.

If one multiplies the efforts of the prophets (represented by the number 24) by the number of years of human existence (6000) leading up to the Millennium, the equation produces the product given by John in Revelation 7:4: 144,000.

John uses these mathematical truths to represent those who have lived upon the earth and listened to the prophets and who accepted the “elders’” message and turned their hearts and minds (foreheads) toward God. The numbers are purely figurative and are not meant to give an exact number of people, as there have been many more than twenty-four prophets of God upon the earth during the 6000 years of human existence, and many more than just 144,000 who have accepted their message.

However, the symbolism stands with clarity: during the 6000 years of human existence, whoever listens to the true prophets of God and turns their mind toward God, receiving his “seal in their forehead,” is considered one of the “elect.”

In Revelation 7:9-12 Who were the great multitude which no man could numbered, out of every nation and all tribes and peoples an tongues standing before the throne and before the Lamb arrayed in white robes and palms in their hands? Where were they standing? If this is not in heaven then where is it?

Great question.

From the multi-answers you received, it shows that Christendom can't come up with a unitied answer.

For those that state the 144,000 are fleshly Israelites, I wonder why Jesus made a mistake in the naming of the 12 tribes.

Surely he should know the correct names of Israel.

He left out Dan and Ephraim, and added Levi and Joseph.

Rom 2:28 For he is not a Jew who is one on the outside, nor is circumcision that which is on the outside upon the flesh. 29 But he is a Jew who is one on the inside, and [his] circumcision is that of the heart by spirit, and not by a written code. The praise of that one comes, not from men, but from God.

shows that anointed Christians are true Jews today, and a fleshly Jew stops being a Jew if they reject Christ.
