I don't think that doing that once will hurt you that much (unless you're driving). Cold medications will often make alcohol affect you more. Of course it depends which drugs are in your cold medication.

Acetominophen when taken with alcohol is extremely hard on your liver so I would avoid combining those two drugs but then again like I said if it was just once its not a big deal.

Ibuprofen is processed in your kidneys, and alcohol is processed in your liver so those two mix a little better, though alcohol isn't really a good mix with any medication. (Whisky is a pretty good medication by itself!)

Well you are asking this question at 9:30 am CT, so maybe mixing the two is the least of your worries.

Alcohol mixes poorly with a lot of drugs, so you should check with a medical reference and not Yahoo Answers. Look at the side of the box/bottle of the cold medication for warnings about mixing the medication with alcohol or other drugs. Alternatively you can go to a library or a book store and get a physicians/nurses guide to medicines and look up either the name brand or generic name of the medication you are taking and it will tell you what you can and cannot mix it with and why.

As a general rule do not mix drugs unless your doctor OKs it. Make sure when you talk to your doctor you list ALL drugs you are taking (including herbal remedies, alcohol, marijuana and narcotics legal or illegal). It is important your doctor knows this. The doctor will keep this confidential, IT IS A RIGHT EVERY PATIENT HAS.

You should be fine, but it's best not to drink another glass of whiskey... no matter how tempting. Feel better soon.

if you do it all the time it's really bad for your liver & kidneys. but one time won't kill you. if anything it might just make you tired. Don't worry.
