See I do not see a problem with it, like lets say you get a phone call saying your dog died, your not just going to stay calm, you are going to be pissed and say shi t or f uck when you hang up the phone. I dont swear to look cool, I do it because I am pissed or to get a point across.

I will admit, I have that very nasty habit. I can't help it. My mother was very smart, articulate, graduated 7th in her class, and could correct a grammar professor! But man could she make a trucker blush!
That is where I started it. It became worse after high school for me. I was friends with this one girl who (not kidding) Used everything under the sun when she talked, and the F word was her favorite.
Now, the occasional outcry is no big deal. Stub your toe, dropped the baby...."D@mn it!" Or you walk in on your husband in you clothes, or your parents doing it, "What the H3LL?"
But I remember the days of when I didn't say any unless the occasional slip up, and when I did hear my friend swear like a sailor, it made me uncomfortable and embarrassed to get her going in public, because to some people, it is a little rude and offensive, even if you're not trying to be. You have to be careful the venue you are talking in and around as well. If your at the park or in a restaurant, you may want to watch your mouth, being your in front of children and more conservative company. (Rather than say, being in a rowdy bar or at a Metalica concert.) So at home, or when out with the guys, do what you want. But when out and about at school or on the bus, I would be weary of that tongue. You don't know who you may offend.
Hope to have helped out.

I admit that, on occasion, I do swear. Most of my friends don't swear much, either. The occasional word here and there doesn't bother me, but when it's overused it becomes distracting from what the person is saying. It shows, as many people have all ready said, a lack of vocabulary. I just try not to say anything around other people that I wouldn't say in front of my own Mum.

Alot of people have responded by saying is shows that you are uneducated. In some cases yes. But I am educated and intelligent and I swear a lot, but I also reign it in around certain people i.e family and my boss. There is a time and a place and certain words such as the C word are very offensive. I never say the C word.
I have an issue with kids swearing but not a problem with adults swearing afterall we are adults!

I think swearing can emphasise a point, but nothing more. Using swear words all the time is lazy and just shows a lock of vocabulary.

Bad language used for shock value is childish and in bad taste. It helps demonstrate that the swearer is immature and had a limited vocabulary. Besides, a lot of swear words are derogatory and should never be used.

it all depends on who you're swearing in front of really! Casual swearing isn't an issue with your mates or whatever but the director of your company might have a bit of an issue with it. There's nothing wrong with a bit of swearing though - sometimes no other word than f*ck will do!!

Unfortunately people do not choose to swear. A person had to develop this habit. But, we were not born with it. And, once established-Its automatic (habitual). It indicates a desire to be wrong. It shows that a person has intentionally decided not to try to train themselves to be correct.
It doesn't hurt anyone if you decide to spit (or worse) on your own shoes. But it is a public testimony about your character, -a rather loud one.

Because people who view it as no big deal have a tendency to do it in front of children too, and I have seen some children definitely be hurt by swearing! Besides, can't you think of other words to use, we have so many to choose from!
