it is the biggest load of crap that ever existed for a start God condemns all churches and religions except one, those who read and put into practise the rules of the bible. Just ignore them he thinks he's gods right hand man, well in fact the devil governs the churches. the bible tell you this

Just been reading an awful lot of anti- Catholic bile. I would be interested how many of these comments came from practising members of other religious groupings.
Two things to remember, The Pope, his priests and the Catholic people try to honour God as best we can. If that involves having a bit of style and reverence, then that's our business. The proverb "sticks and stones" comes to mind.

People have long tried to answer this. I am an Anglican and regard my priest as God's representative ( they will agree a flawed one ) but the garb as you call it does help to make my participation special as am member of the congregation.
their are all sorts of debates going on about the wearing of purple a roman colour of great social importance. I would therefore suggest that the debate is does it help in a service or does it hinder. I think it will be fairly evenly divided if put to the vote

It's just a little tradition and reverence to the office. At least the Pope does provide leadership for Catholics. Go pick on the Queen.

It is a lot of pomp and circumstance. The Pope has entirely too much power. In the catholic religion he is the head-master. I don't know why one is needed. God is the real head-master.

The Pope dresses that way so people know who the Pope is, so they do not follow heretics that lead them away from God's Kingdom. Should the Pope not dress nicely? Especially when in God's house. Jesus often went to the Temple to pray, so the Pope should go to God's house to pray. People say the Church is rich. It is, in faith, the rest of the money comes from donations and is given to charity. The Church doesn't buy for itself, but people offer for the Glory of God.

I don't really care what he, or you for that matter, wear.

Protestants and apparently an atheist, seem to worry more about what the Pope wears than we do.

The pope and Catholic religion is a joke. They have there fancy costumes and brainwashed people who will do anything for them. I see all those people who wait around for hours just to get a glimpse of a man that is dressed like he lives in the year 1777 and pour money into his pockets to get a brief boring speech. I swear people are stupid.

If there ever is going to be such a thing as an anti-christ, the pope will fill those shoes

I don't believe in the office of Pope..i think its unbiblical (papal infallability etc). the Pope is called the head of the church..but the Bible makes it clear that JESUS is the head of the Church.
God bless
