Get in touch with a counselor that can help you prepare an intervention for this person.

If they don't want help, you can't force it. Treatment only works when a person wants to be treated, and even then it's difficult. The best thing you can do is let that person know that if they want help, you're there to help them get clean and sober. Otherwise you're not going to help them slowly kill themselves. Do not give them money, food or shelter unless they are willing to get assistance. Even then, they should know that if they stop getting treatment then they stop getting your support. It's harsh but necessary for your sake and theirs. It also would be a good idea for you to go to an AA meeting. They'll have a lot of info for you on this type of situation. Good luck.

Give up...Let them hit bottom, then the only thing to do is get help for themselves, not for you. This is a personal decision and if they do it for someone else then it won't work any way. They may not even see it as a problem at this time. You can not change someone else...Only yourself, besides they may like the attention you give them even if it's negative.

I don't think you'll be able to help someone that refuses to be helped. For any kind of treatment to be sucessful the abuser has to want it.

You can't help someone who isn't ready for help. Get some brochures for AA or about alcohol/drug abuse and leave them where the addict will see them. Tell them you do not approve of their behavior. If you are in a relatioship with them, you need to get yourself help and into a stable environment.

Good luck. :)

Try having a family intervention and let the person know that they are loved and ppl dont want to see them destroying themselves, dont judge them just advise them that this is not good for them.
