In women who have a known HPV infection, 17 to 36% develop some form of cellular abnormality on pap smear (though not diagnostic of cancer), and 5-10% develop cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (a precancerous lesion) over 5 years.

If you look at the "evidence" on Gardasil's website it says that 85% of cases of cervical cancer also are people who have HPV. Out of statistics, keep in mind, 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime. That's not just cervical cancer, that is any kind of cancer whether it be breast, skin, lung, or cervical cancer so just be vigilant with your health.

Because its so low, most women routinely get pap smears...and once actual cells are found its easily taken care of. But the key is to have your yearly, then once diagnosed with hi-risk hpv, have them bi-annually.

I do know that one in four people will get some form
of cancer,so statistically on this evidence yours in your
question will be on the low side.
