There is not anything fragile approximately a competently developed condominium made from wooden. Wood body houses are as stong or more potent than brick houses. Bricks are simply clay blocks held togeher with motor and really effortless to damage aside. Most latest brick houses are brick veener on a wooden constitution the wooden constitution is ought to supply force. Wood is the superb constructing fabric for houses and within the United States it's ample and reasonably-priced. Britian does no longer have the tremendous wooded area procedure that we've got within the United States so lumber is extra costly there. A good developed dwelling within the US can quite simply resist Hurricane drive winds. Hurricane winds by myself hardly ever destroys a dwelling. Most of the distruction from hurricanes come from tidial surge alongside the coast. Hurricane Ike (2008) induced houses alongside the coast close Galveston Texas to be submerged in 18 toes of tidal surge. No dwelling can resist that.

A large part of it is insurance requirements. Using non-flammable materials is a high priority. I have worked in a lot of Malls and many of the interior walls are wood and drywall. The dividing walls (between stores) are usually concrete and section off each store for fire protection and security.

Our home is built out of cinder block. It was built in 1946 by my father-in-law and that was the most cost effective way of building it back then. We live in a hot climate and we find that it keeps the house cooler in the summer. We remodeled it 3 years ago and put in double pane windows so that helps too.

it all depends upon climate and readily available materials, Eskimos build igloos of ice cause its available to them, in areas where my native place is people build houses of wood as its available in plenty and affordable to them, it keeps them warm in winter and cool in summer compared to steel, brick or concrete or stone. in cities we need huge homes multi-storied buildings which cant be built in wood, or mud.. so we use various combination of materials like steel and concrete, steel and glass, brick and reinforced concrete etc.. to give us flexibility.. all materials used for construction are used cause they are available or for function.
