Upon returning to the buffet for seconds, you discover the serving spoon has fallen into the gravy, handle and all. What's the propper etiquette for retrieving it without making a sloppy mess?

You just dive, face first, and retrieve it. Like bobbing for apples, I guess. No-one will notice. You might find other surprises in there, as well! Bon appetit!

Alert a staff member, who should then remove the tainted gravy, take it out the back out of sight, stick their hand in the gravy, get the spoon out, give it a quick wipe on their shirt, and then bring gravy tray and "clean" spoon back out, assuring everyone that it is a fresh tray of gravy and a fresh spoon.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Most people don't wash their hands correctly after using the bathroom. Avoid buffet food situations whenever possible.

Never ever try to take it out youself, tell the staff and they will retriev it properly and bring out another batch of gravy because of health reasons. You do not know what was on the other peoples hands when they handled before it dropped into the gravy bowl.

LOL. OK First of all, I'd tell whoever..a worker or manager...the spoon fell in and uh hey don't you think that's unsanitary? Secondly...Sloppy seconds is usually a terminology for something else such as in the case of some men who couldn't have me so decided to check out my sister then decided to try and hit on me again lol They said she was the next best thing to me and I said Sloppy Seconds just isn't my style! Goodbye! lol Ahhh the memories lol

There is absolutely NO feeling better than a good sloppy seconds. Fantastic! That "gravy" is just the best lube you can possibly imagine!

Get some napkins, put it in the napkin, take it to an employee and ask for a clean one... :o)
Although I think I would still skip it even after replacing the spoon, because of the germs that went in when the spoon went in...

I would find someone who works there to retrieve it. They may even have had to replace the gravy. The germs on the handle from everyone touching it would be enough to make me not want to eat it. Not everyone washes their hands! EW

Dont worry about it. Your there to eat and not worry about utensils. I say just grab the spoon from the pan next to the gravy.

Hello,

This question is TRICKY anf FUNNY at the same time.

But my views of this EXPRESSION are the following:

* SLOPPY SECONDS are used in JESS to signify, sex that was no very satisfying to the person who felt that way.

* Or it could also mean that one would not like to be the one to have sex with someone who is no longer a VIRGIN!

You should not even WANT the spoon or the food after the handle has fallen back in. Other people's yucky hands have been on it and it fell in the food?

ICK!

I'd go have something else...

Don't touch the thing. Are you certain everyone who has touched that handle has washed their hands. Hmmmmm?

Nothing like a little momento of dinner, Hep A, or B, maybe a little serving of salmonella. Yum.
