They are very good when the accuse christian churches of attacking them of coming out with statements like"the christian church oppresses me" or "i am oppressed"
Tell me.tell the world in great detail how you personally have been "oppressed" by the christian church.
Gays always blow on and on with things like "whatever gays do in their own home is their business",
Have any christian members actually ever forced their way into your house and actually physically oppressed you.
Maybe they sat on your sofa moaning you to death.
You know its a sin to bear false witness.

I can understand the ethical reason why and athiest shouldnt be allowed to hold office.
Christians have a bigger reason to be honest, hence they are more qualified to hold office.

Actually, it isn't a sin to bear false witness as THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS SIN. False witness is merely unethical and potentially illegal if given during testimony in a court.
Your question is difficult to answer because it doesn't really make much sense. Putting atheists and gays in the same category makes about as much sense as putting Christians and child molesters in the same group. Likewise, asking such an extremely biased question such as yours is about as useful as asking the extent to which Christians and child molesters hold up liquor stores. It's inflammatory and really doesn't further any kind of intelligent discussion. This, of course, is a common tactic among those who desperately cling to irrational beliefs and archaic dogmas.
The fact that Christians feel so threatened by atheists that they have to attack them in this forum and in the real world so frequently with baseless accusations and irrational commentary is just another example of how religion renders believers essentially pathetic. As for how any of this relates to gays, one can only imagine that it has to do with some unresolved, deep-seated issues of which the questioner has yet to come to terms.

properly, you won't be able to. Why? with the aid of fact that is an opinion. there are various church homes available who settle for homosexuals. different than for which, there is information to point being gay isn't a call. that is organic and organic. I quite do not understand why gay marriage is any such vast deal. it is not like those gay men sneek into the residences of excellent Christian families and do eachother interior the butt in front of them. it is not like they're chasing rapidly men down the line attempting to do them. How does them getting married influence *all of us* rapidly in my view? It would not. they could have the same rights as a guy and woman who decide for to marry. Marriage is a dedication to love and be with somebody till demise. It would not *have* to contain procreation. If it does - properly then how am I to any extent further appropriate? I married a guy - yet i'm infertile and hence no infants will result from the union. yet with the aid of fact i'm a woman and he's a guy - that continues to be ok? i'm sorry - i in simple terms won't be able to think of of any *good* or valid reason gay marriage is undesirable.

I love some of these answers. Why is it that the Christians are the ones being told "Don't force your religion on me!!"? Yesterday the state government in the Commenwealth of Massachusettes decided that allowing the people to vote on the idea of "gay marriage" was not a good idea. This after various organizations jumped through all the hoops to get it to the point it has gotten. Why? Because some are afraid that if they allow the majority of the people to vote the idea would be defeated. OK, but aren't we always being told that "We are a democracy."? Haven't we heard enough that Bush was selected not elected? On the one hand they want "majority rule" but on the other they want to ignore it.
The point I am trying to get across is the idea of "Gay Marriage" is not one that has been arrived at by the will of the people, but one that has been pushed down on the people through the Courts (I believe it was 4 against 3). So who is pushing their ideas onto others. Liberals have been doing this for years. Look at what they teach in the schools, allow as normal in the society or propogate through the media; then honestly tell me that Christians are pushing their ideas down your throats!! If a child is taught yoga in school, is that a religion being sponsered by the school? In Buffalo, NY a class field trip to a local Mousqe was held; would a trip to a Catholic Church be allowed???
In short religion is not limited to Christianity. Religion is a set of values, beliefs and goals. If you want freedom from religion go to a lonely island and live for you can not escape it.
How do you answer that?
By the why, the First Amendment says, "Congress shall make no law in respect to religion.." It does not say that we are to be free from any reference to religion in our lives, thus it is permissible to have a national motto of "In God We Trust". After all it worked for 200 years and we became the greatest nation in history under it.

I am not gay, so no personal oppression, but have a couple of gay friends and I know they all are upset that they are not allowed to marry despite they have strong feelings for each other and been together for years. They are not treated like other couples are. I am sure you will find that statement correct.
About general life, yes atheists and gays tell occasionally lies, so do christians and people of all other faiths. I tell occasionally lies, mainly "polite" lies, but still lies.
Comment on: "Christians have a bigger reason to be honest, hence they are more qualified to hold office". You followed news about all the religious republicans who had to leave office? Libby may go to jail for lying. Bush said god told him to invade iraq (following such voices in his head makes him qualified for office, huh?) You want me to go on?

I'm an atheist. I am more truthful than most "religious" people I know. Religion itself is, in my view, the biggest lie ever perpetrated. How are atheists "oppressed"? Have you looked at our currency lately? There it is: In God We Trust. Well, I don't trust in mythical beings. Do you think an atheist could be elected President, or even County Clerk? No. Not gonna happen. That's the definition of oppression.
As for gays, what is your problem with the argument that what people do in private is nobody else's business. Do you think it IS your business?
You only sound ignorant when you make arguments like this.

How about those christians who work to pass civil laws to restrict the rights of gays and others who don't voluntarily go along with their religion's rules? I'd call trying to impose one's religious beliefs, by law, on those who aren't interested oppressing people.
By the way, there is no such thing as "the christian church." Christianity is a collection of religions, not a religion in and of itself.

Hmmm. Suppose every Prime Minister (or President) had been an atheist? Their own choice, I know, but wouldn't you consider that to be a bit odd?
Suppose you went to school and every week a man in black addressed the whole assembly telling them that religion was bull**** and those who practice it are on the first step to pure evil? That denying God is more important than loving your parents?
Suppose you were having your lunch and there was someone on your doorstep saying "Have you heard the good news? It's all a load of b***ocks?" Suppose they'd brought a child along with them, just in case you felt the need to insult them?
Suppose in part of your country two terrorist groups - one of agnostics, the other composed of 'loyalist' atheists - had been conducting a civil war against each other for thirty years or more, with hundreds of uninvolved persons being killed in the meantime?
I bear true witness. As for gays, ask a gay. I'm sure he'll have some stories to tell.

This is a silly and immature question.
The Catholic Church opposes gay marriages and will not allow them to adopt from their adoption agencies in the UK.
In USA Atheists are not allowed to hold office in some states, as they deny god.
If this is not oppression then what is. Grow up and stop moaning that other people moan, without looking at the evidence.

I don't generally spend my time complaining about Christian oppression, but, yes, I have had some bad experiences with a few who felt it was their business to tell me how to live my life. Most of those experiences have been in the workplace, but some were in school.

Everyone tells lies, and everyone is oppressed in one way or another. However, no single thing in the history of mankind has told more gratuitous lies or oppressed more people as the Christian Church.
Do your homework before you start spouting, my friend. When you are full of facts rather than beliefs, then you can start asking such questions.
