when I started University again in September I would get myself a girlfriend, how do I probe girls - you know like talk to them differently to how I would talk to just a person that I am not interested in getting with?Like how do you talk to them when you want things to develop into something?

There should seriously be a dating course in college,
Okay:
find something that you two mutually enjoy build from there. Or if not enjoy have in common.
If she's in a class with you ask to discuss the text over coffee joke about how much the class blows and get her to laugh. key to almost any womans heart Laughter.
Offer to help her if she seems to be struggling in anything.
Or if she is not in your class and you see her books take interest in what she is doing build a conversation, not for to long though then say you have to go, but you would love to continue over dinner.
It's easy be yourself and don't enter the friend zone ever it's very hard to bounce back from that.
Flirt
Announce you intentions after a few dates, and never lie.
You'll do fine.

OK first off do not use terms like probe sounds a bit wierd, but your heart seems to be in the right place, just be yourself thats what you have to offer , oh and confidence goes a long way with the ladies no one wants a project... good luck

See, you are putting the p*ssy on a pedestal.
Talk to them like they are a normal person... they ARE a normal person.
Ask about things they like to do, and just remember it's like talking to anyone else, they are probably feeling the same way as you thinking "does he think i'm fat... am I sweating right now? etc..."
Just be casual and if they are interested, they will act interested in you... then you just maybe rub her back or something gently and see how she responds. Physical touch will make you or break you, but you have to try it, if you want to succedd.
The first step is finding someone interested. Talk to them in class, online, at college, or on the phone. Once you find someone willing to talk, you can work from there.

Just relax and be yourself! Pop into the students union bar, find someone your attracted to, introduce yourself, ask questions, give plenty of compliments and ask the girl if she fancies a date some time. Never lie, don't be too materialisitic talk about topics of interest! Good luck - plenty of eye contact!

i would suggest you be your self. that way you more comfortable. however there are a few Minor changers you could make, be more polite and respectful however not to much, because girls tend to look for a muchou nature in men. they want to feel safe and protected. therefore to don't want to be so respectful that you seem feminine in a way. also try keeping away from the slang. girls don't normally like that. always be well dressed when around women, neat and tidy. and smell good. :-) most important

i dont know about being friends, because it really can go bad, like if u really like her and she flirts for 9 months but dates other guys cause she didnt know how u felt,
id try to get to know stuff anout her, and try to go do things with her that she likes. always be flirting casually, dont be too agressive but let her know that you like her too. good luck
