While sciatica can last for weeks or months generally it is not considered to be a long term condition.

It can be relieved with medication and /or physio.

Basically it is pressure on the sciatic nerve which is causing you the pain.

You doctor will be able to offer further advice and if necessary treatment.

Good luck

Sciatica is caused by pressure on the sciatic nerve, this can be mild to severe. If you are having pain down your buttocks into your leg ,please seek advice from your neurosurgeon or orthopaedic surgeon as sometimes if left untreated can cause lifelong problems. Only a trained physician can tell you whether surgery would be indicated after evaluating your symptoms and treatment plan
