You have to wait exactly one year before donating blood unless you live in 4 states. I'm not exactly sure which ones but i know Ohio is one of them. you can check it out at Redcross.org. Anyways.. the reason behind waiting a year is because if they reuse the ink in a tattoo parlor then something could get into the blood stream and would take a year to be completely cleaned out. Whatever could enter through the ink doesn't go away right away. Nine times outta ten you don't get anything especially if you go to a very clean well known parlor to get the tattoo done. I hope this helps you!

As someone who's gotten eight tattoos so far and a frequent blood donater, you have to wait at least a year before you can donate again. The techs at the blood drives have told me that the American Red Cross considers getting tattoos and piercings to be risky behavior because of the possibility of the transmission of hepatitis and other blood borne diseases.

the rules on this tend to change. Last i checked it was 6 months as long as you went to a health board certified tattoo parlor. You can get diseases from tattoos but only if you are going to an unsanitary tattoo artist. most take their trade very seriously and use disposable needles. Or they use a serilization machine that will sterilize the needles for them. I'd consult your local red cross to get a firm answer on this question.

It depends on what state you get your tattoo in...I could get a tattoo today and donate tomorrow if I wanted to. It has something to do with states regulating the use of sterile needles and ink at tattoo parlors. However, since most states don't regulate parlors, you would have to wait a year to donate.

Not immediatly. I believe you have to wait about 1 year before the Red Cross will let you donate, but a local hospital may let you after 6 months. Red Cross has tougher restrictions than most.

Not for at least 6 months, and sometimes you are not allowed to at all. It depends on your location. The reason is that you can contract diseases from tattoo needles (like Hepatitis C)

In canada, you used to have to (circa 1997) wait one year at least prior to giving blood again.
