depart from me for i never knew you

I tend to let comments like that roll of my back. If I can't take their beliefs seriously, then I can't take their insults seriously.

I do think it's funny, however, when a Christian will use homosexuality as a slur against me. I'm completely secure in my sexuality, and the fact that a "loving, tolerant, humble" Christian would try to label me as gay says much more about them than it does me.

Well....George H.W. Bush (Dubya's daddy) doesn't seem to think that atheists should be considered either citizens or patriots.

Sherman: What will you do to win the votes of the Americans who are atheists?

Bush: I guess I'm pretty weak in the atheist community. Faith in God is important to me.

Sherman: Surely you recognize the equal citizenship and patriotism of Americans who are atheists?

Bush: No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God.

Sherman (somewhat taken aback): Do you support as a sound constitutional principle the separation of state and church?

Bush: Yes, I support the separation of church and state. I'm just not very high on atheists.

God loves you.
No seriously, as an athiest I find that on the whole religious people take it personally when you don't agree with them, like you are attacking them, most common misconception I find is people think being without theism means you are without morals.

I always try to avoid that discussions get nasty. Usually, if you are nice to others, others are nice to you. At least the people I know.

I can only pick one?

Well, my future mother-in-law told me that if I married her son, we would be unevenly yolked and I would be dragging him to hell with me.

Basically, she thinks I'm gonna burn, and that her son will burn now too. She's a little nutty.

"You're going to burn in hell, where you belong" from my sister in law! In this case, it wasn't so much what was said, it was who said it, since she knows me well, and knows I'm a good person. Why do I 'belong' in hell if I'm a good person?
