One answer was to repalce the a bit in the black box.... My 6V power supply is a separate transformer. plugged in by mini-jack If I change the transformer will that fix it ?

NOPE....your transformer powers up just fine....you GET a picture with HUM BARS in it.....

The power supply is RECTIFIED, THEN FILTERED BY THE CAPACITOR I told you about.....

You have to replace the capacitor to get rid of the black bars (hum bars)

It sounds like something is picking up the signal from another TV channel – dirty contacts on aerial connections or SCART (if used)? – via mains supply? – try a different socket or surge protected power strip. Move wires and black box around to see if it persists. Turn power off SAT and DVD box in turn.

Can you adjust the channel frequency used by the black box? You would then need to retune the TV.

Remove main aerial when using SAT or DVD. It might be the weather conditions producing interference from a distant transmitter. I have this from time to time watching Sky programs in other rooms via the Sky box second aerial socket. I simply switch off an aerial amplifier and the interference disappears.
