I've had this nightmare at least once every 2 years since i was 10 and now I am 22.

I'm in a big open black space all by myself and I'm balancing on a huge gigantic ball the size as big as a city
I always wake up terrified for some reason.

Another weird thing is my nephew that is 12 said that he started having a recurring nightmare super similar to mine.

I would think it means that I feel like I'm alone, but what's with the ball?

I think the phrase "balancing act" is pertainaint here, dream symbols often use puns.... at times when we are struggling to keep our balance in a situation, it's easy to feel like we are the only ones going through that, to feel like your situation is unique, and no one else could possibly understand what you're going through, but, as demonstrated by your nephew, we all have times like that....I would be willing to bet that you have this dream more often than once every 2 years, but that is how often you bring back a recollection of it. Here is another dream pun for you..... be "on the ball". On the ball means to "stay on top of it". In this world, people are rewarded for being "on the ball" in thier opportunities... Even though you and your nephew are young, you still have many challenges to stay on top of, and standards to maintain, in order to get where you want to be when you are older, people tend to think that youngsters have no good reason to feel stressed out, but these days it is really quite stressful to grow up in this world...Keep a journal noting the dates and times when you have this dream, and also make notes in the journal as to what challenges lie ahead for you in the next couple days after, see if you can find a pattern, like maybe it happens just before a big test in school, or if you're in sports, right before a major sporting event, things like that, it sounds to me like a performance anxiety of some kind...

The ball could potentially mean how much control you think you have over your life and/or future. The ball being the size of the city could represent the space you live in. As you know, when you walk on a ball, to stay on top, you need to continually balance by walking forward, backwards, sideways etc. However, if you don't maintain your balance, the ball will pull you under very quickly. I would assume a ball the size of the city would most likely crush you, if pulled under. Therefore, you may have some fears about staying on top of your life and maintaining control of your environment. Good luck.

It symbolizes you trying to handle too many big issues by yourself and you feel like these issues will cause you to lose your balance and hurt yourself.
