None whatsoever, because God cannot be created, nor can He be destroyed or damaged or dropped or painted. He is present everywhere not just in a closet tucked away for safety. So the answer to your question i don't think idol worshiping has any benefits. Of course these are my opinions as a Muslim who believe in the unity of God.

I am an atheist, so I don't worship anything, but I would like to comment anyway.

Do you have a picture of your mom? Why? Isn't it to remind you of her? If you were talking to her on the phone and looked at it would you be talking to the photo? Would it be wrong to look at the photo while talking to her? Of course not. Thats silly, isn't it?

Catholics, (who at the ones I am sure you are trying to slam) don't believe the statues in their churches are Jesus, or Mary or the saints. They aren't stupid. Those things are there to remind them of those people. The use of objects that were considered sacred is something that occurred in the bible. What about the Ark of the Covenant? Was that not an object that Israel used in worship? Did that make it an idol?

I am always amazed at how much energy some protestants expend bashing others. It gives me the impression of joylessness, divisiveness, and hatred. Aren't these the things that christianity speaks against?

I think that they don't really worship the idol but the idea it represents. I think it is the human condition to want to see to believe. Staring at a blank wall praying might make your mind wander, but if you have an object to look at, it may make you more focused. That is just my opinion as a person because to me it does not make any sense worshiping the cup I had tea in this morning or a doll a bought in the market unless in means something more than the object itself

Idol worship is forbidden by Christians. The example given is the golden calf. There is no other God but the God of the Trinity.

People worship things that are important to them. Most of the time they never know that they are worshiping an idol, such as money, drugs or people.

Worshiping an item (like a cross) to reach a spiritual "other" doesn't seem to make sense. Worshiping with an item to help you is a different story.

Good question. As a pagan I have often wondered why Christians worship a chunk of wood with the likeness of a man nailed to it. It seems rather morbid to me.

I worship the Earth which was created by Nature. Nothing man-made about that and She is very much alive.

Blessed Be )O(

Idol Worship is against God.
Why do they do this?...beyond me also, and this goes for the cross around the neck, crosses in the houses, pictures depicting of Jesus, etc..(also goes for prayers to Saints, and not straight to God through Jesus)

You're not suppose to worship idols. Worship comes from belief and faith in God.

Another Xian 'tard question.

How about this: 'worshiping an idol which was created by a man' is as powerful and as much use (I have my tongue placed firmly in my cheek) as worshiping AN INVISIBLE MAN created by man.

I can't, off hand, think of any major religions that worship inanimate objects....other than pagans.

Could you give example.
