When I was growing up I was what could now be termed as a fundie. I was taught as a child that it was illegal for a child to pray in school. Now I am 36 and I just discovered that this was an outright lie. It is not illegal to pray in school, it is simply illegal for a teacher to lead prayer and in essence force a child to pray to a god they do not belive in. Which makes perfect sense. Now the fundementalists are telling a lie that new legislation will make it illegal to preach against being gay when no where in the legislation does it mention or prohibit churches at all.

All I ask is wont you people please please start reading these things for yourself? All religous leaders are MEN and being so are just as prone to mistakes and lies as any other MAN.

Be a christian but THINK FOR YOURSELF..

I personally have been trying to explain that to people - your kids are free to pray all they want in school. They can read the bible at lunch, if they want to. But the fundies have it in their heads that the kids need a teacher to lead the prayer, or better yet, broadcast it over the PA system. That way, everyone gets the Word. It's ridiculous.

And this new thing with the preaching against gays - lies. I bet O'Reilly had something to do with that one - he loves to willfully misunderstand things, then complain on tv about something he made up from what he didn't understand. I always find it amusing how the Christians in this country feel like they're being persecuted, while they do most of the persecution themselves. (Preaching against being gay, when there's undoubtedly gays in the pews... I'd call that persecution...)

Insecurity. People have various reasons for blindly following a charismatic leader but it usually has to do with acquiring a sense of security, such as trusting in someone who they believe has all the answers. There are varying degrees of this and everybody is guilty of this at some point in their life whether religion or otherwise.

They can't think for themselves. They want to be spoon-fed. They talk about being sheep who want to follow a master.

Thus they've been fooled since 3000 years by every wise leader. And even today, their leaders are Pope and Bush. So you can imagine how easy these christians are, to be controlled and misguided.

Go to this site and type in elders:

http://www.watchtower.org

As far as other religions, i.e., Catholics, Baptist, Penticostal, Islamic, I do not pertain to these religions and there is an important reason why.

I do know that Elders, as you will research at the link above, head their congregation as their "bride" so to speak and they love and care for their congregations. Any other false religions I cannot speak for them but only to state that many religious leaders are false and corrupt just as most all politicians are.

Hope I have not confused you. Good luck.

I trust people for some things, and not for other things. My leader is Jesus Christ. So all the political crap is nothing to me compared to the trust I have in God.

Too many Christians get caught up in the issues of the day and do not remember the Gospel.
