Should people with different beliefs and of different religions outside of Christianity be entitled to the same opportunities and treated with absolutey the same fairness?

Should people also have the right to freedom from religion if they do not believe?

Face it, you live in a country with First Amedment rights, and that was established deliberately by its founding fathers not to have any state religion. It's not religion, it is the law, and the basis of your nationhood.

My reading of christianity (as an atheist) is that christian beliefs commend tolerance and the tenets of equality. It is very easy to make a case for christians being socialists, after all. Therefore, I would say that chrisitians should support an egalitarian, multi-cultural nation made up of people of different (or no) faiths.

Nice...what is freedom "from" religion? No religion in society? Re-education camps for the hopelessly religious so that they will all not believe? The right to subscribe to no religion at all or to no belief in anything outside of a naturalistic worldview and still have equal opportunities, rights and responsibilities? I agree with the last...is that what you meant as well?

Read the Mayflower Compact drawn by the Pilgrims.
The Constitution gives us freedom of religion. That is a practice issue. You may choose not to practice a religion but you don't have the right to keep others from displaying the symbols of there religion. I goes along with free speech. If I stand on the corner and talk about my religion, you have the right to ignore me and walk on. You don't have the right to gag me because you choose not to practice a religion. Pornography offends me so I avoid it. I cant take it off the TV or out of the movie houses.

Freedom of religion is what America was founded on. some of the first settlers here came to escape religious persecution. America was 'the great experiment' that many said would fall within ten years.
If someone has no belief in God, it is up to them. Some of the signers of the constitution were atheists, but they still respected the idea on what the country was founded on.
I believe in the Christian faith, and being that I believe in that faith, I disagree with other faiths. that doesn't mean that I think they should ship off somewhere else.
Just stay off my lawn:)

Of course everyone deserves the same opportunities and fairness. The answer is that as Christians, it is everyone else, and us. We have the light and we need to share it with all those that have not heard. You are living as an example of God's grace. Move them to think you are different, and to consider your beliefs. Live as Jesus would, and let God do the rest.

God Bless.

The 1st Amendment allows for people Not to participate in any religion and there is no State Mandated religion and Government in the !st Amendment Cannot Prohibit and restrict religious beliefs or censor them communicating those doctrines. As is being proposed in House Bill 1592 and Senate Bill 1105 goes even further in those restrictions.

I think so because Jesus came and said "take me or leave me", He didn't demand that people believed. It is a choice, he gave us free will.
