make this a successful volunteer experience?)

I'm not asking exactly what to put, but I was wondering if someone could explain what the question is asking.

773H is correct, but as someone who does screen applicants from time to time, I can add that those who put some information about what they feel they can bring to the job/position to help make it successful often stand out from the crowd.

It can be as little as something like "By undertaking this experience I hope to develop my capabilities of working in a team and therefore enable me to provide a good standard of service to the organisation and its clients".

People like to hear what you want to give, not just what you want to get, especially in a volunteer situation.

Best wishes and good luck :-)

It is asking you what do you expect to get out of volunteering that would make you feel that it was successful.

Write down what you expect to gain by volunteering with the organization. Make a list - it may help you.

you are apparently going to volunteer for something.

in the past, people never ask you these sort of questions when you volunteer, cos manpower is hard to get.

but now, everyone has their own agenda. so they want to know what's yours, and to decide if you will fit into their scheme of things. cos if what you expect and they provide dont match, you will come out of it disappointed or disillusioned and they dont want that to happen to you (and to themselves).

for example, if you expect to work with needy kids but they only have sick kids, you might not enjoy it (maybe you are scared of having to help them with injections, etc)

so set your expectations, and if it matches the volunteer organization requirements, they will accept you. otherwise, find another worthy organisation to put your heart into.
