'm hope I'm not asking an inappropriate question, because I'm not looking for any inappropriate answers.

Here's the story: he is Tibetan and is immigrating from China to the United States so we can get married. We lived together for 3 years in Tibet, then I had to leave and we've been working on our legal paperwork and visa application and stuff for the last 2 years.

Obviously we've kept in touch via mail, e-mail, phone (we talk EVERYDAY-- eek: phone bill ! ! ! ) , and via computer IM and video chat/calling.

I'm not worried about it being awkward or anything when we see eachother, I just need some ideas on how to make it special when he first arrives. I want it to be really special... I think it will be anyway, since we have been apart for so long, but do any of you (guys or girls) have any clean answers regarding what I'm talking about. You don't have to use explicit details (obviously), but just some good ideas for special intimacy? thanks!

Ooh baby, start with dinner by candlelight. Then go cuddle up at a nice movie. After that you can take a nice walk along the beach in the moonlight. Then you can spend the rest of the night in the hot tub, getting a nice massage, and very private slow dancing! =<)

Well obviously he's gonna be tired, customs, flight, blah blah... just a nice at home dinner, some nice music, maybe a good movie and snuggle up on the couch and let it take it from there. I doubt he will want to go out on the town or anything so simple is best. Have fun!

My now-husband I met in Canada, and we often went months and months without seeing each other. *chuckles* It was terrible, and my heart gladdens to know that you'll be seeing your sweetie soon.

Obviously, you'll want to see him as soon as he gets off the plane, and if you can, go for it. He might be tired and hungry, and we all deal with reuniting and travel in different ways. Whenever I flew to see my boy, he'd have a chocolate bar for me (my favorite comfort food) and be ready to give me space to relieve the stress of travel. Usually, though, I just wanted to hang on to his arm and reassure myself that he was real.

Whenever one of us visited the other, we made sure to have the foods the other liked in stock in the fridge, so I'd always get him bread and pasta and coffee, and he'd always get me mangoes and breakfast cereal and potatoes. Maybe you can look for some Tibetan snacks at a local ethnic grocery or market, or even order some online.

There are a lot of little things you can do, from showering together or just looking into each other's eyes and sharing memories -- but the main thing is to make sure you have time! See if you can take time off work or school, and free yourself from social committments for the first few days. You'll have a lot of time to make up for, after all.

The only other thing I'd mention is, don't worry if you make plans for your first time together in two years, and your preparations kind of get forgotten in the rush to be with each other. Give yourself permission to reconnect and to just enjoy the rush of intimacy with someone you love and have been missing for so long.

To be perfectly frank, you might not make it to the rose petals and champagne (or whatever you end up planning), just to the kitchen floor-- but that doesn't mean the roses won't wait, or they won't be just as special afterwards.

The best advice I can offer is to forget about staging anything and just be yourself so that he can be himself and it will be special enough. If it isn't, well, that tells you something than doesn't it?
