How does war agree with "Thou Shalt Not Kill"?

No where in the Bible does it say there is an exception to the rule for war ...

Or is war only "OKAY" in gods eyes when he "TELLS" the leader to go to war ( what if the leader is not religious but the war is morally right i.e WWII & American Revolution ).....? if not, isn't EVERYONE in Iraq and people that were in wars throughtout history who killed people going to be or are burning in hell?

I'm not what you would call christian, but I would say according to Jesus, yes, War is a sin. Killing is a sin. Always

That being said, humans are sinners.....

There is no such place as "hell." It is purely imaginary.

The Bible is just a book that can be openly interpreted to justify anything. The same can be said for any book belonging to any religion.

The phrase you are refering to, "Thou shall not kill," is one that means, "do not harm those of your own community." Anyone who is not a member of the 'group' is fair game. This is called a wolf-pack mentality, and is one of the signs you may be a redneck.

Intentionally taking the life of another living thing is called "murder." Accidentally doing so is called, "killing." Both have the same end result, but with different source criteria.

You claim: Because of the saying, "thou shall not kill," people who adhere to the Bible should not be making war.

You asked: Is it morally correct to take the life of others?

It depends on your point of view. Taking the lives of others is generally frowned upon, unless in direct self-defense.

Bible tells us to obey the authorities, and those
who kill at war execute orders. At the same, if those
orders contradict the Bible, then we don't have to
obey. People have a choice, and they choose to
wage wars.

In the Old Testament, God did command to wipe out
certain peoples inhabiting the promised land. Yet,
I don't believe, He told some contemporary leaders
to go wage war so that they could have more oil and more
money.

As for burning in hell, if people truly repent and turn away
from their past sins, God does forgives, even the sin of
killing.

There is this concept of a 'Just war' in Christianity; in other words, if a war is considered to be a 'just' war, one can go to war. There are several criteria, stringent, to be met before a war can be adjudged to be 'just'. Go to the Vatican site or other Catholic websites to find out.

Fyi, Pope John Paul II agreed with the American intervention in the Balkans, and told Bush when he was about to embark on Iraq that Bush will have to 'answer to God'.

And who, other than the Americans, would say the American Revolution was morally right? You rose up against your rightful rulers, the British, who had expended a lot of money on energy on establishing the American colonies. Then you failed to fight fair, using guerrilla tactics (Minutemen and the like). Does any nation believe its own propaganda more than the American nation?

This is a great example why we need revelation from God and Apostles/Prophets to teach the people in our own day. This is why the Lord gives His Saints the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands. That they may know for themselves God's will in their life.

The Bible says that God encouraged the Israelites to wage war against the Canaanites.

Obviously, the God of the Bible doesn't mind war.

War does NOT agree.
Jesus told us to do two things,
(Matthew 22:37-40) He said to him: “‘You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.’ 38 This is the greatest and first commandment. 39 The second, like it, is this, ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments the whole Law hangs, and the Prophets.”

If you love your neighbour you will not go up against him at all. Meaning you will not join the armed forces, or take onmany job that involves 'policing' your neighbour.

In the Bible "Thou shalt not kill" means you are not to commit murder...which is not the same as not killing.

This is the only interpretation since the Bible also speaks of justiified killing.

Not killing isn't even possible, since in order for your body to exist it must kill viruses and bacteria, etc.
