With the exception of the past year I've never seen so many people go up in arms against illegal immigration, could this lead to violence towards Mexicans either legal or illegal?

I think it does, in a way, because it makes it a topic for discussion more often. See, the thing is, most people have learned by now to keep their un-PC thoughts and opinions to themselves for fear of being branded "RACIST" but when the topic is up for debate, friends, neighbors, colleagues, classmates, etc. voice their opinions with false confidence because of camraderie and then the truth comes out-- people start defending those beliefs and opinions they normally don't talk about... all leading to racial tension. It's happened fairly often in the circles I am around lately and I am convinced it has to do with this. Here in Los Angeles, we still bear the scars of the violence that stems from racial intolerance. It can still happen, and does in schools, workplaces, etc. In a city that prides itself on its diversity, there are still boundaries drawn and places where you belong and where you don't belong-- Places where your race lives and places it does not and is not welcome. It's going to take a while to eradicate racism (and the violence that stems from it) from our society-- We talk about segregation and inequality as if it were in our distant past but it is not. It's been less than fifty years, which means that its only one or two generations off from where we are. It is up to us to make sure that we do not pass down hatred and bigotry into our next generation... for their sake.

Amnesty to illegals is an attempt to not enforce laws.
Laws exist to prevent chaos and protect and enhance a society.
Mexicans ,or anyone from any other country that has BROKEN US entry laws should be sent home.
Many people in many countries respect laws, fill out their applications and wait for many years for the opportunity to live/work in the USA.
What sparks racism is the idiots who keep referring to illegals as mexicans...

It's certainly a potential problem to consider. However, having lived in Texas for the first 43 years of my life, and then in Colorado for 7 more before coming to Washington state, racism seems to be alive and well without any help from the amnesty bill.

It is about political votes from the largest minority and making it legal for US employers to employ illegals. Currently Employers are subject to a $75,000 per illegal fine if caught. Amnesty is for Big Business. The news media is ignoring this issue because they are so controlled.
If you have chosen sides you have bought into the deception. The politicians are serving only their own re-election concerns on this issue.

I think the bill is a piece of bull. I hope that we don't get violent. Remember people, we're mad at illegal immigrants, not legal immigrants. Violence would spark more anti-Americanism throughout the world and that's the last thing we need. Thanks!

maximum mavens agree that this bill might decrease unlawful immigration via no extra suitable than 18%. This bill makes human beings pay plenty for little or no. additionally, the main cutting-edge figures relating to the tax advantages of unlawful extraterrestrial beings point out that the only effective earnings is on the federal point. State and native governments are dropping badly with the extra financial burden being place on faculties and centers. I sent emails to the idiots representing my state and district. besides the shown fact that, i believe that writing your Senator or representative is like attempting to teach a pig to sing. It wastes it sluggish and it annoys the pig.

It shouldn't, every sensible person that is opposing this issue knows that it is about illegal immigration of Mexicans not all Mexicans.
You do have some people who would like to bring their racist views into this debate (KKK) but you can easily identify them.
And for the people on the side of illegal immigration for Mexicans who claim everyone that is for enforcement of US laws is racist. I suggest they take another look since they are advocating special privilages for Mexicans over everyother race and nationality, since everyone else is waiting in line and the illegal immigrants are cheating.

This is the popular spin put on this whole issue: just because I am an AMERICAN and I do not look lightly on people knowingly breaking the law and expecting a free ride I all of a sudden am transformed into a) a racist or b) lacking any HUMAN emotion.

THAT IS THE SPIN! I stand up for my homeland - BOOM! Now I am a racist! IT'S FRIGGIN' MAGIC I TELL YA!

Harry Houdini couldn't transform a nation full of patriots into bigots that fast!

It isn't an issue of race man, it is an issue of WHAT IS LEGAL and FREELOADERS destroying our economy.

When the pro illegals see that their arguments are totally irrational and hold no water they begin grasping for straws..they start screaming "racism".

Am I wrong?

EDIT: Hey NACHOMAN, WTF do you know about anything Irish you friggin' punk...my family came here 60 years ago poor as friggin' dirt and EARNED their citzenship and didn't freeload - hurts doesn't it?

It brings it up to the surface. Yes, it can lead and probably has already led to violence. It could go the otehr way as welll. Remember France, and the Muslim riots over there.

I think it just helps us identify who is who here in the land of the yahoo KKK. I love seeing these hypocrites get so bent out of shape talking about their precious laws and guidelines and formalities for entering the country. But how have they and theirs entered EVERY country since the beginning of time? Smiling and slithering on their bellies. Ha, offering false alliances and cons and then proceeding to slaughter the cultures and in one case in particular an entire race. So now what goes around comes around, and their foresight lets them know it in advance. Oh man, I tell you this, you call this country what you want, but the days of calling it "the white mans land" is coming to a very fast, very justified, end. Debes practicar tu espanol blancitos! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
