I do not hold a belief in either gods nor devils, but generally speaking, I have noticed that anything a person considers "good" can be said to be of god. While anything "evil" or opposing them can be said to be of the devil.
While everyone has there own ideas as to what are good and evil, so to opinions will vary upon what is god's work and what is the work of the devil.
Answer me this, if the pope, a priest, or bishop places a blessing upon weapons of war are they doing god's work, or are they doing the work of the devil.
Now, say the weapons they blessed were those of your enemy, whom you are at war with. Still feel the same way?

God is not the author of confusion. If it doesn't feel right, it probably isn't.
That doesn't mean all things that you feel uncomfortable about are from the devil, it means you can tell what is good or not.
Remember, the devil is PURE evil, not some boogey man. Hitler doesn't even scratch the surface of PURE evil.

You need to know God's Word which is the Bible and really pray for discernment. If anything is out of line with the Word of God then it's not from God. Sometimes it's hard to know whether we're being tempted or tested and this is where you have to know the Lord and be full of the Holy Spirit.

Since God allows the devil to operate, it is the same thing. Satan asked for permission to harm Job. God gave him the okay, the only restriction being Job's life.Satan murdered his children. God's will. Authorizing a wicked deed is the same as committing it. Remember Charles manson?

Great question jasonlai73!
The idea of the sacred is quite simply one of the most conservative notions in any culture, because it seeks to turn other ideas -- uncertainty, progress, change -- into crimes.
— Salman Rushdie
It is only the savage, whether of the African bush or of the American gospel tent, who pretends to know the will and intent of God exactly and completely.
— H.L. Mencken
I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires.
— Susan B. Anthony (1820-1906)
No man ever believes that the Bible means what it says: He is always convinced that it says what he means.
— George Bernard Shaw
A sober, devout man will interpret 'God's will' soberly and devoutly. A fanatic, with bloodshot mind, will interpret 'God's will' fanatically. Men of extreme, illogical views will interpret 'God's will' in eccentric fashion. Kindly, charitable, generous men will interpret 'God's will' according to their character.

A great question to ask and there are some great answers to this already. If you are a new Christian, it is probably the toughest to tell the difference. Reading the Bible and praying daily is what you need to help build your faith so you know God better and if you know God better, then you will know what is of God.
I hope this helps!

If you believe in the omnipotence of the One true G-d then you realize that the "devil" doesn't really exist as such. The Torah, original and unedited bible, talks about satan (adversary in hebrew) who is the adversary of mankind and pleads cases before the Supreme Judge, but has no power over us. So to simply answer your question nothing happens without G-d say so, therefore it's all part of G-d work.

Time will tell. you will know by the fruit it bears. Whatever is of God is good and lifts blesses and brings good.
What ever is of the Devil make look good at first, for a season.
But it brings death destruction and pain

The spirit of discernment. If you live your life in such a way that God's spirit can be near you it is far easier to be able to tell if something is of God or of Satan because the spirit can tell you.
