j_musicman129: you say you are not anti gay people just anti gay acts, did you ever read George Orwell's 1984? because this sounds like doublespeak to me. Two gay people chatting on the phone is a gay act, having a cup of coffee together that's a gay act, a straight person pretending to be gay...that's a gay act.

John: Who are you for that matter to tell me the Bible is right...but we could uselessly go on saying that to each other into eternity.

J.A.: yes these are the translations that show the Bible is to gays what Hitler's Mein Kampf was to Jews...it's an ugly negative book isn't it recommending a pogrom on gays.

Here is the thing, first of all Christians have a distorted view of Jewish law, they pick and choose what they want to follow. Jewish law like any other kind of law is not something you can pick which ones you want to follow and which ones you don't.
Jewish law states "It is forbidden for a man to lay with another man as with a woman, for this is abhorrent in the eyes of G-d" However it doesn't say anything about women, so since it is not contemplated in the law is permissible legally, there is no penalty for it and it's not even addressed.

I'm a Christian but I don't know if I'm anti-gay or homophobic. I guess I am not sure of the definition you are using. But I can tell you that I love homosexuals as much as I love anybody else. I do think God is very stern in regards to how He feels about homosexuality through scripture. I'm not sure if it qualifies as "homophobic" or not but it's pretty clear God is against the practice and many other things. If there are Christians who are "anti-gay" (not sure exactly what that means because the possibility could exist that I am anti-gay depending on the definition) and pushing a different version of scripture, I can't speak to that. It's an intriguing question though and I hope some of the answers give you more clarity. Thanks for the chance to answer. Be blessed.

I'm a christian and I'm not anti gay people just anti gay acts. I don't judge the person because it is the same as any sin as anybody else including i could and do commit. I believe there is only one way to interpret scriptures relating to homosexuality, its not the way god intended. That's just the way it is. That's what the scriptures say clearly and honestly any other interpretation is an attempt to justify the act in someones mind to make them feel better about what they are doing. It's no different if i interpreted the bible saying murder was OK if i felt like it.

I am a born again Christian and I really do not know what Bible they are reading from but my Bible says this.Jesus said if you want to obey all the commandments you are to do these two things (Paraphrased)Love God and Love everyone. And when you have a personal relationship with Jesus He will instill this in your heart.Jesus also says if you live by the law you die by the law.See there are Bible Christians And then there are personal relationship with Jesus Bible Christians and the only way the Bible makes sense is to read it holding the hand of Jesus and empowered with the Holy Spirit

Anti-gay christians are hellphobic who believe and trust in the entire Word of God that includes Romans and ! Corinthians. In Romans 1 and 1Cor.6: 9 + 10, it clearly states that homosexuality is a sin. It is an unnatural perversion. It goes against God's design for us and His plans for us. It's not a personal opinion of us christians, but is God's Truth and warnings that we share because we care. Follower of The Truth found in Jesus and the Word of God.

The bible is pretty unequivocal about the sin of homosexuality. But don't take my word for it. Take God's . . .

Leviticus 18:22
"Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable."

Leviticus 20:13
"If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

1 Corinthians 6:9
"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."

1 Timothy 1:9
"We also know that law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers..."

Romans 1:26-27
"Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion."

With the bible so absolute about the sin of homosexuality, it's not the fear of homosexuals that motivates Christians . . . it's the fear of God. Hence the long-standing taboo against homosexuality, which unfortunately has fallen to the way-side, thanks in large part to politically correct (PC) apologists.

Because I'm an agnostic, I have NONRELIGIOUS reasons against homosexuality (if not the homosexual) . . .

1.) Homosexuality defies the survival instinct. It is not conducive to procreation and, therefore, lacks survival value. This makes homosexuality aberrant.
2.) The anus has one and only one purpose. Enough said on that one.
3.) The walls of the rectum are thin and prone to tearing and damage. Given the location of this damage, infection is a serious concern.
4.) There's also the health concern of feces on external body parts.
5.) My final reason is one many parents can identify with: we don't want our children to become homosexual!! I personally don't want homosexuality to be a viable option for a young, sexually inexperienced person to consider.

Don't fall for the "they were born that way" ploy. It's a nice-sounding way of saying that homosexuals don't have free will. Homosexuality IS a choice. Every time. Just as heterosexuality is a choice, every time. It's not as if heterosexuals CAN'T have homosexual sex or homosexuals can't have heterosexual sex. They choose. Or don't you subscribe to free will?

Taboos serve to minimize and marginalize certain types of undesirable behavior. Pediaphilia (pedophilia) has its advocates too. So does bestiality, necrophilia, transvestitism, exhibitionism, masochism, etc. Are we to give them our blessings? Of course not! Those taboos stand for now and so should the taboo against homosexuality.

The Bible (and God) says homosexuality is a sin. Who are you or any other person to tell me the Bible is wrong? The term homophobic was created by humans, therefor I reject the term.

homophobic used to mean--a fear of homosexuality.
Now it means to reject the ideas of homosexual relationships.
[wikipedia].
anti-gay is the same thing as homophobic by the newest dictionaries.
Most don't push the scripture, they read it and believe what it says, that for man to lie with man is wrong, and women with women is wrong and even an abomination.

"Homophobic" is not relevant.

A) The Bible clearly condemns homosexuality.

B) The existence of fear ("homophobia") is not logically adequate grounds for the dismissal of an argument, claim, belief, etc.

Otherwise, aren't all gays just homophobephobes?

Silly word games propagated by the mindless.
