I have been thinking about this a lot lately. Those of us who claim to know Jesus- are we truly representing the love of Christ here, or are we pointing fingers? One thing that I have to remember is that before I came to Christ I was one in need of saving- so I believe that we as Christians should remember this when we share our faith. I am not saying that we have to be tolerant of sin- because God isn't however I am saying we need to remember it is because of Christ we are forgiven. And God loved us before we were saved.

My question is hard to understand? I just want people to share the love of Christ- what part don't you understand. I am talking about myself being a sinner, so I am not pointing fingers- so nothing we Christians can do will please, no matter how hard we try

I am sorry that you do not pray but I would never give you thumbs down for believing that way- sorry about that

I too think of this. I care about everyone and want to make sure I share Jesus's love, but I also think we need to warn others of the consequences of beliefs. If you call that pointing fingers, I disagree. We are to share ALL the message, not just the love. It would be like a parent who showed a child all love and no dicipline. This would not be real love. If you mean by pointing fingers, when we ourselves condemn someone, you are right. I try to say, according to God....., so the person knows it is God's Word, not my own that I'm trying to convey. But, thanks for the loving reminder!!

By reading the Bible we know that Jesus wants us as Christians to witness to others in a positive, Christ-like manner. By the Bible we know that He is omnipresent and omniscient so He knows those Christians who are telling non-believers that they will be going to hell if they don't believe or bad-mouthing, bashing anybody for whatever reason. God is a God of love and would not condone this kind of action and behavior. There are many Christians on here that do this.
When I answer in the R&S section I try to state my beliefs and will back them up with scripture, but will with the Lord's help keep my judgments to myself. l may fail at that at times, but nobody is perfect.
As Christians we need to represent Christ through how we live and talk and behave and part of that is to practice what he taught us in the Bible. Love and accept each other unconditionally as He loves and accepts us, period.

Most of us Christians--as most of the non-Christians--are probably doing the best we know how to do with the tools we have to work with.
A good policy for us to follow is to use Jesus Christ as our example, and pattern our behavior after His. He was available to those who were interested in what He had to offer and left those who were uninterested alone. And He always did the right thing. He refused to be drawn into a foolish discussion and He didn't get off point. He came to this earth to accomplish a mission and He accomplished it, and did nothing that hindered it.
And He died for every one of us--Christian and non-Chrisitian--on the very same day. We should remember that, and behave toward everyone accordingly.

Love should always be the primary motivation, even when pointing at sin. If it is from spite or hatred, it is from self, not the Spirit. The work of the Spirit is conviction, and they will seek justification. If the judgements we proclaim are from the Word, they are God's, not our own. It is simply "the other side of the coin" of the "good news" and our personal testimonies. Forgiveness is an act of love, reconciling an offense. Some will just not acknowledge their wrongdoing.

I've never seen Jesus Christ represented here. In fact, I've never seen Jesus Christ represented anywhere. I've heard rumors of Christ-like people, and I know of several Christ-like persons who were here, but are now dead. Every single person I've ever met who claimed to be Christ-like was a liar, and every person I've ever met who was reputed to be Christ-like was an ordinary sinner too.
The last person I know of who was Christ-like was Mother Theresa. That is the standard. Who do you know who can equal that standard?

Good question--I am not Christian but have recieved some disturbing e-mails from Christians on here that would not be considered "Christ-like" by any stretch of the imagination. I have asked these people to stop e-mailing me. Some have respected my request and some have not. I may have to block some of the "well meaning" Christians from my e-mail. Would Jesus be pleased with this? You tell me!

I'm not really sure. Sometimes, we Christians tend to judge people. Sometimes we forget that Jesus came here for the sinners, not the righteous (But nobody is truly righteous in His eyes). But sometimes, we Christians tend to be self-righteous and the tendency is to look at other people and say that they aren't pleasing God. When we do that, I don't think God is pleased.

It amazes me how when Christan's speak like this it sounds so cultish! We represent ourselves not anyone else! And about being tolerant to sin. ONLY God can judge not any person! And it is bc of GOD we are forgiven not ANYONE ELSE.
You all are comparing a man to GOD that is just as bad as worshiping an idol and one day you will see.

As an atheist observing you guys here, I have to say that some of you are trying to follow the best principles of your faith and some are an ever-present reminder why I have none. As an example, in another question on here I attempted to be supportive of a very nice person(a christian, btw), but stated that I do not pray. The simple statement that I do not pray earned me two thumbs downs in what was an otherwise inoffensive statement.

I think the majority of people who claim to be Christians on earth are doing a very poor job representing him. I have to admit that I have failed him often. However, I want to do better. I want to serve God and do good to my neighbours. It is not easy, but it is commanded.
