I love unsweetened iced tea, it's best at places like The Outback Steakhouse and Applebee's. I want to brew my own, but I've never done it before.
Do you just buy black tea bags, put a bunch in a glass container and then pour boiling water over them and let it seep? How long would you let it seep for before taking them out? And then you just keep it refrigerated, how long does it last before going rancid?

Yo I think I remember the tea with those ceramic animals, aren't they like glossed over and really smooth and grey? I remember those from when I was a young kid, my grandma would give them to me.

Do try sun tea.. it's great.. and easy!
Put 4 to 6 tea bags into a clean 2 quart glass container. Fill with water and cap. Place outside where the sunlight can strike the container for about 3 to 5 hours. Move the container if necessary to keep it in the sun. When the tea has reached its desired strength, remove from sun and put it in the refrigerator. You may or may not want to remove the tea bags at this point. I usually don't. This doesn't last in my house longer than 2 days, so I don't know how long it would last but it's so good I don't think you'll have to worry about it.
Good luck!

I drink Ice tea like water. It's considered drinking water if you drink it with no caffeine.
There's a tea brand I tell everybody about because it does not have a bitter taste at all and I have been drinking it since I was a kid. And I am 40yrs old now.
Anyway they sell it at Winco if you have a Winco near you. The brand is called "RED ROSE" and it comes with little ceramic animals (also since I was a kid). I know that sounds really weird. The brand does have a caffeine tea bag available. But like I said I have always did the de-calf because that way I can drink it day or night. Because the caffeine gives me really weird dreams.
Anyway I take 6 tea bags in one of those large Pyrex glass 6 cuper measuring containers (kind of like a large bowl). I fill it full with water and tea bags and cook it in the Micro for 5 minutes then I let it cool on the counter till it becomes room temperature. When it's room temperature I pour it into a pitcher about the size of a 2 gallon container of milk. I even put the tea bags in with it. I then fill the rest of the container with cold water and I put in the fridge and when it's cold I just pour a glass. You said you like unsweetened tea, but I don't when I am going to get a glass I just open one pack of nutria sweet before pouring the tea in the glass. And Bam your good to go!

First off, I have found that if I like the iced tea at a particular restaurant they are usually willing to tell me how they make their tea. You will have to experiment with how many tea bags to use and how long to let it steep. That really all depends on how strong you like your tea. Lipton also has bags now that brew in cold water. I have used them and they taste just like ones brewed in boiling water. Tea in the refrigerator begins to go rancid after 24 hours. It is totally gone after 48.

I also love unsweet tea and recommend sun tea. I use Luzianne large size tea bags, 3 in a gallon jar of water. Some times I add one regular size Earl Grey bag if you like Earl Grey. I set this in full sun for 3-6 hours, remove bags. I have left it in the fridge over a weekend when i was out of town and it was fine when I returned-but if you're home it won't last that long anyway.

I do the old fashioned southern iced tea.
Small saucepan-fill with water (I use bottled spring water)
Add 2 Family size tea bags
Heat to a slow gentle boil
turn heat off
put lid on saucepan
I let it steep for about 10 minutes
Pour into pitcher half full of spring water-add more water to fill pitcher. Pour over ice(I like bagged ice) and enjoy.

Boil your tea bags in hot water. Gets more flavor. Then let the bags sit in the pot of water for a couple of hours. If you like it sweet... then it's best to add sugar while its boiling. then place in pitcher in fridge once the tea has cooled down a bit.

Well my mom's ice tea is the best...But i never tried making it before. I think skhe puts about 8 bags of tea bags in a bowl(it's usually for sunday dinner)and lets it sit for about 20 minutes and warms it up and then adds sugar just to sweeten it and pours it in a pitcher and refrigates it for about an hour or two.

takes the freshest of homegrown tea (hash tea is the shiz) and u can do that too. then use that marvelous invention called the freezer that dispenses what we call "frozen water" or "ice." place the "ice" into the "hash tea" which u have dissovled in water. the "ice" gives it a nice frozen temperature that is more refreshing and u can get high cuz hash tea is da bomb, diggadee
