When I heard from Yahoo about Yahoo answered, (what I was told) I thought it was a place to share, those who had genuine questions could ask and those who had genuine answers would help by answering... I didn't know it was a bashing fest, sorry, my mistake!

I only want answers from people who are serious, not necessarely religious, but respectful even if it is different from my belief, and not being called names.
That's what I thought, all are well come, but I thought respect was part if it.

ABSOLUTELY! I agree, and it used to be the ask and answer thing. It's too bad it has changed. It used to be a neat place.

S&C and R&S seem to be the place where many come to grind, sharpen or use their own axe. I have been here about a year and it is beginning to rank right up there with cleaning the commode. I loose it once in a while, but generally I spend a lot of time looking for questions I think I can help with.
The level of bashing and cheap shots shows some variation over time. Perhaps it lines up with the full moon?
I take part in some other venues where the people are expected to be in some agreement. Even in these areas things are a little rocky these days.

Some people do get a little passionate, especially when answering questions for some reason. Some people feel that they must make up for a lack of intellect with overwhelming arrogance and clever bashing. I have found that the more the question is based on opinion, the more passionate people get. Yahoo Answers is wonderful if you're looking for the name of a book, or a resource, or how to do something, but not ideal for sharing opinions, especially ones that are based on religion or politics.
:) don't be disheartened with the opinions. Everyone is brave behind their computer, so they feel powerful and strong in their opinions, and when conflict enters, then it can become a bashfest very easily

I can identify with you. I felt the same way when I first came on Answers. But you will learn to totally avoid many of the questions just by the wording of the question. But as far as asking a question, you'll be unable to control who answers. If you get rude and bashing answers, just move on and don't dwell on them.Just consider the source.

The bashing does exist. If you were to click on my avatar and go to my questions asked under myth & folklore you will find I have got a tail. An answer that surely explains bb is suffering from the "gnashing of the teeth." I just ignore it. You will find that there are many people looking for conclusive answers to there questions and vice versa.

Well... Religion and politics are two things you should NEVER bring up around a big group of people. Even if it is on the internet. I have learned some great things on Yahoo Answers, just in other topics.

Ya, I thought the same as you when I first came. I think it might be a bit different in other sections of YA. But here there is a war most of the time. Our motto is "Abandon Faith All Ye Who Enter Here". Sooner or later you will be tested to the last straw. On the other hand, you can learn a lot too. Good Luck.

There will always be those who throw words around in a frivolous way, even out of intention to in some sort of a way hurt you... However, there are some really genuine people here...
For the rest, try to stay positive and ignore the negative or hurtful answers you may have experienced...

You weren't wrong at all, I find it gets a little silly in here at times but we all have to let off some steam.
There are genuine answers to genuine questions in here.

Please don't be discouraged by the bashers. there are many people here who are genuinely nice. Some are pretty funny in a demented sort of way and some are only interested in the debate. Just choose your questions and answers wisely and ignore the trolls. You are welcome here. We value your input.

From what I have read thus far no you aren't. But there are those who are attempting to answer questions sincerely and with sensitivity. So don't give up yet Let's try to fix it.
