And that the word of God is the truth.

If that is the case, why didn't I win the lottery last night. I prayed for 1 solid week that I would win the lottery this week and nothing from God.

Why not? Because the Bible says :
John 14:14 "You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it."

I think the word of God is now a least questionable.

The word of God IS the truth. But, why do you think the Bible is the word of God? Just because some people say so? Perhaps the fallibility lies not with the idea that God is perfect, but with the idea that the Bible is representative of God's word. God's word can not be questionable. If it is, then it cannot be God's word. Therefore, the Bible, not God, is the one with no integrity.

Contrary to popular opinion, the Bible is not the only available text in which we may hear God speak, and be educated about Him. You have conducted the experiment of the Bible, and it has failed. Why are you still relying on it for the truth?

First of all, if you are trying to cause trouble, I will ask you politely to stop; however, I have no control over your actions whatsoever. Now God is perfect and His word is true. You seem to be going off a verse that means that within God's will he will do what is possible. God isn't a vending machine. He doesn't control us like robots either. And let me point out the verse before it John 14:13-14 "And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." Were asking for the glory of God or for your own benefit?

God bless

Prayer is not getting God ready to do our will, it is getting us ready to do His. God is not a "genie" in the bottle where every wish comes true. What that passage means is that we ask according to His will. Just because you did not get what you asked for does not make God imperfect. Have you spent a week just worshiping God for who He is, instead of just asking for things? Don't be offended by this, I don't know you, but I know some people think God is just like Santa Claus- no He is God- and we are not.

ok well heres the standard christian answer...
you ignored a key phrase in the verse you are refering to - 'in my name'. In the time that book of the bible was written peoples names referred to their charcter and personal authority. It works like this- if you are the kings representative/ambassador you are authorised to sign in his name- as long as it is in keeping with the kings wishes. So if you read the verse in context with the rest of the book you can see what is meant is that you can ask God for anything * in his name- meaning if its in accordance with his own wishes and charcter* and he will give it to you.

no exactly the promise some people make it out to be.

Ah, context, context, context.
Let's read a little more in John 14:
"12I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
15"If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him." "

Do you have faith in Jesus? Do you obey His commands?

Let's look at John 15:

5"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. 8This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples."

Are you living and remaining in Jesus and His word? Are you bringing Him glory by what you are praying for? Are you His disciple?

Why not ask Paris Hilton's dad for money, he's rich? He won't give you any BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT HIS KID! He has no obligation to you.

You are selfishly praying for riches, for your own will to be done. Your motives were not right in this prayer. We are to pray with the right motives, accepting God's Will no matter what the outcome. God is Our Loving Father who does what is best for His children.

You ask God to give you riches. You should have read more such as the prayers of a righteous man are answered. God is not a genie to do your will He is a loving father who does what is best for you.

what you ask should be according to will of GOD.using that promise u cant ask GOD to send someone who hates someone to hell because GOD aint doing that.

JESUS loves you.Have u recieved JESUS for the forgiveness of your sins?

John 3:16[kjv] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

so when we believe in JESUS we have eternal life.JESUS lived a sinless life and gave up his life as a sacrifice so we can be sin free. Ask JESUS to come into your heart and forgive ur sins and cleanse ur past with the blood JESUS shed on the cross.

With a simple prayer like above u can be saved.JESUS loves u and wants u to be saved.

"in my name" means quite a bit more than tacking a name onto the end of a prayer for your own will to be done.
A name is very important to God- it is like the definition of who your are- anything done in your name is going to have to be something oyu approve of, something you have signed for, some thing that you would do yourself. If your prayer is selfish and self serving and without consideration of who God truly is, then no matter what name you chanted, your prayer was in your own name. In order to pray "in God's name" you must be praying according to His will , with understanding of who He is and who you are in Him.
